Hmmm... off the top of me head, I don't know but what is your time frame? I will work on it by asking around. I know of a B&B but it is further down by Champaign IL. They also offer quilt retreats. I'll look them up and send you the web address.
Hi Mary, just read your comment today. I also am not visiting this site as often as I could. I am trying to start some new projects but with the hot weather it is difficult. The fall season for us in California comes later in October and November. It is in the high 90's again today. Have a good week.
Hi Mary, I have just retired and am now finding time to visit my page and catch up on all the blogs and memos sent out by quilters. I enjoyed your photos and plan to post my photos soon. Good luck with the new grandchild. LOL Kathleen
Hi Mary, Lord, forgive me for not getting back to you sooner. I just haven't, until recently, had a lot of time to read, much less get on line. I received an Associates Degree on May 7th in the Arts. I'm a fiber artist, in addition to making fully jointed teddy bears 1 inch and larger, and I can take your child's drawings, maccaroni pictures, etc. and duplicate them in fiber, right down to their little signature without any damage to the original pictures. I paint and do photography on fabric as well, not to mention embroidery, weaving, beadwork, etc.
Hope you and yours had a fantastic 4th and do forgive me for not responding sooner. - Namaste - Terri
May, I must apologize for not responding to your message of February ... geesh! Things just seem to get in the way. I graduated from Alpena Community College with an Associates in Arts and did so cum laude. At 59, that surprised me. Best part was graduating side by side with my son - he graduated suma cum laude. Told me it would have been embarrassing if his ma got better grades than he did . Any who, I'm a fiber artist, dabble in lots of things, mostly quilting and taking children's art and replacating it in fabric. I can take your child's earliest drawings, right down to their signature and reproduce it in fabric without any damage to your original art work. I'm trying to get this off the ground here, will let you know how it goes. Can't hurt to try. You'll have to let me know where you are in Michigan and perhaps we can meet. Have a wonderful day - Namaste - Terri in beautiful, but cool, Ossineke, Michigan
Thanks for getting back to me. I enjoyed reading all your blogs. You sound like your having fun. I enjoy being a grandmother and wait until you are. Our newest grandson, Jason, is only 9 days old.....tiny little guy. I babysat my 10 month old grandson, Andrew, today and again tomorrow, and our 3rd grandson is Alex, 3 yrs. and is in day care now with other kids. He loves it. You are going to bust your buttons when that little person gets here.
Hi Mary, I haven't heard from you in awhile so I decided to drop by and say hi. I have been in a slump lately with sewing but I finally got over it and I'm back at it. It's hard to sit in the basement and sew when the weather is so nice but I try. I hope all is well with you. Cindy
hi have been a little busy , what you been up to? ive been busy sewing, making a quilt for my grandaughter , and trying to decied which block i want to use for my 20 blocks. have you decided? couldnt get on the site , could you. my pc didnt coperatiate[sp]sorry it took so long to answer. better next time.
I've found that using a serger is the best with stretch fabric. But I haven't used it in at least 5 years. lol. It must be under something in my 'crap' room. I know that you can sew knits with a regular machine but I never got very good at it. I bet a little patience and practice would help. Let me know how you do.
Mary, the retreat cost includes lodging and meals. You have to bring your own supplies. of course. There willl be two classes available if you want to attend them, included with price. It is put on by the Conference Center. This is the first one and I am helping get some things organized. We are tring to get a local quilt shop or two to be venders, so there will things available. Will know for sure later. We have a few feelers out. I'm going to contact Caroline to see if she might be interested. There will be some give aways and possiblly a stash swap. Rooms there are nice and the food is good. They have a grreat snack shop with smoothies, coffee drinks, shakes, pop corn and other snacks and also a small gift shop. Hope your friend will come and you too. I think it will be a lot of fun. Gos Bless, Sandy
Mary, I am hoping to. I've made a lot of baby quilts, a couple of bonnets and dresses. I'd like to get back into sewing baby/kid clothing. I found a pattern for a bib with sleeves (LOL) and I will use stretch terrycloth. But I need to finish a toddler quilt first. Have you made any baby things? Congratulations Grandma!!!
It's Gaylord. I always stop by that Ben Franklin when I'm up there. They have some neat things. I've been to the quilt shop a couple of times and it is nice. She has different fabrics than the two shops in Houghton Lake and not expensive like the one in Grayling. You have the cutist dog. I've never heard of a Mi Ki, where did you find them, not that we need any more animals, but he is cute. Sandy
Hi Mary, I will be taking my daughter to get fitted for her dress. She is in my step-daughter's wedding. We will go out to lunch and there i a Quilt Shop in Gaylord. which of course I will go to and get some material. That's what my mom would do. She passed away from lung cancer. They thought they had is all when she had her surgery, but almost 10 months later we found out it spread through and into her bones. All but one of my brothers were with her. Bambi Lake is just a small lake that the retreat is on. I will stay over night, even though I'm about 10 min. away. Don't want to miss out on the fun, sewing and fellowship. God Bless and have a great day, Sandy
HI Mary, Your retreat sounds like heaven, being with all the quilting ladies and finding new stores. I live near Seattle, Wa and love it here. I grew up in northern ID and would consider going back, but both my kids and 2 grand kids are here. I'd sure miss them. I self taught myself to quilt and have been doing it almost 3 yrs. I've learned a lot from friends and watching the quilting shows. I did take a free motion class and have been practicing. It still looks like a drunken sailor is doing it. I've made a lot of quilts for family and friends. Jusst love it. Happy quilting. Sharon
Sounds like a great time! I'm glad that your relaxed and refreshed. I did join the block swap and I just read that someone dropped out...so it's only 19 blocks now...still alot but it should be fun. I left a message for Vanda to let her know that MM still does carry fabric, not as much as they did but they still have a nice selection. Have a great day cindy
Mary, I would just love to. How about Mary Maxim's . I want to check out that rumor myself. Yes, I have been to the shop in St.Clair. Loved it!
2 weeks it is, then. As time nears, we will determine a time.

Hi Mary...I love doing the Cathedral Windows....I can safely say that it isn't the easy method...lol...I still do enjoy it. Alot of ironing but I am getting better at it. I haven't decided what to do about the block exchange...In the next month it will start getting pretty crazy for me and it will last through the summer. I am still considering it, it does sound like alot of fun!! Let me know it you join. Have a great day...Cindy
