Arlene, You know I've been to Shipsawana many years ago before I started quilting. Great idea, I'll have to go there again, I guess I've forgotten about it! We did have a two hour delay for school today, I just slept in! Silly me!
Well, I did it!! I took some of my grandkids pictures, scanned them and then sent them through the printer on the purchased paper, and I think they look great! I am so excited!!! Now I just need to narrow down the 1,000 pictures I have to use!!
I had to work today so didn't get anything done today.
Yes, we are buried. It is SO cold here, I am wondering if there will be school tomorrow. I think there is another snowstorm headed our way too. Great. I must admit, it is rather funny to watch our two labs do high hurdle jumps over the snow drifts!!!
Thanks for the friend request. I'm pretty new at this so I didn't even think of requesting to add you.
I had heard that like a boat if you don't name your longarm it's bad luck. I'm sure that's silly, but named her just the same. :)
I will definitely keep those sites in mind and when I have time (and the strength) to have my heart strings tugged on, I will revisist the QOV site. I admire you and your guild for supporting our vets.
Tomorrow will be an exciting day because I'm going to get some pointers as well as get to use the ruler. Wish me luck!
Take care and have a nice day,
Barbara in California
Hi Arlene. Dick just finished blowing the double drive so we can get out. I have to go to Sterling to the Ss office & Wal Mart. I finished the crib quilt last night, just have to put the lable on. Now I have to start a lap for my 14 year old granddaughter in Florida... don't really think they need one down there , but that is what she is getting for her b-day & I have to have it done in 2 1/2 weeks!!! AND I can't decide on a pattern? Now how hard should that be, and I'm sticking to just a few colors & something easy to machine quilt....sure wish I had a long arm !!!! LOL So I guess I better get moving so I can be back here by early afternoon.
You sure are a busy lady...I need to get into things like that, never did because of working 40 hours, didn't leave a lot of time.
Stay Warm !!!! :)
Arlene, I've had mine since 1996 or so. It's no. 624! It's a 24" on a 14' table. No bells or whistles. I really need to get back to using it on a regular basis. I've had a quilt onthe machine for a year now and then Mom moved in with us and then passed so it's just sitting there. I just need to get off this computer and go downstairs and plug it in and get going, but my heart just isn't in it yet. One day.....
Just a note that might interest you - FW Bible College (now known as Taylor University FW) is ending their undergraduate program in FW and will be based in Upland, IN. I believe they are still keeping some of their other programs in FW. My husband and I listen to the radio station WBCL all the time...if you are ever interested you can listen to them online at WBCL.org.
Well, back to my bargello sweatshirt jacket...I am teaching a class the beginning of Feb and have to finish my sample!
Until February of last year we lived about 35 miles north of Ft Wayne, near Hamilton. I've been through Lagrange many times on my way to Shipshewana. Actually I work in Angola, IN-I have been with H&R Block there for 10 years. When we moved to FW I debated about switching to a FW H&R, but I couldn't bear the thought of leaving my clients and my co-workers. So I am commuting about 45 miles 3 days a week. My favorite shop is Sewing Treasures (formerly Sewing Sewlutions) in Angola. The people there are wonderful and my Thimbleberries group has a blast!
I went to your website...it's great, I will really take some time to do some reading there tomorrow, since its almost midnight now. I saw you photo quilts and it got me all revved up to do mine!! I am going to try to run some photos through my printer tomorrow and see what happens. By the way, what is the Bubble Jet process?
oK, I know where you are at & I would LOVE to stop in :) I would like to see all you photo quilts. & the kaieidosope projects. I'll have to recearch that . I have several childrens quilts I want to do for grand kids in the next 2 months, but I think they are going to be flannel rags, kids seem to really like them. I really want to do a pillow or small wall hanging in the kaieidosope. & learn how.. where is the best place to get the instrutions?. do you have pictures you can send me? I an't remember if my e-mail; address is on this site or not. But it's firstname.lastname@example.org. If i'm laid off for any period of time & I get cabin fever, I just might give you a call ...LOL
Well, now i feel "stupid", I didn't read far enough to see you are in Il. Is that by the interstate? I go to Galesburg & see something like that. I just check out your web page...boy, you do do a lot of quilting!!!. I do the memory quilts, pillows & hangins also, I enjoy them. Now, the kaieidoscope...I have always wanted to try that. Do you have your own shop?. I never had the time I would like to spend quilting, & I'm not an advance quilter, even tho I've been quilting for about 14 years. Now that I'm laid off, I hope to get the sewing maching humming !
I just read ..you are from colona..Is That Il., ir Iowa. there is a town with a name something wilke that ,that has Omish stores ? Am I right?
A friend of mine from Galesburg goes there & buys things in bulk. I LOVE thier dark br. sugar ...LOL
Hi Arlene,, that's bazzar, you have been to my LITTLE town..POLO? Funny. What quilt Shops do you go to? Did you ever got to the "Quilting Cellar" between Polo & Dixon? Sue is a good friend, hated to see her close up shop. But.... she did it longer that planned, took a year to visit kids & travel & now she is a teachers aide. Boy when you Shop Hop...you Shop Hop...LOL. I have always had to work , so I haven't had the pleasure to travel like that. Now I'm laid off, like millions, so we will see if I wonder out & about.
Have to run,
