Sounds like a fun weekend. Where is she graduating from? My "baby" graduated from high school last year, my DGS graduates this year. Yeah - that was a fun couple of years there-tee hee. Now we have 2 in college, one is the DD that is having a baby (nope - no baby yet).
Paula-Congratulations to you and to your daughter. Remember that she wouldn't be where she is without her dear ol' mom. It's quite an accomplishment for her. Boy, a nurse! Something that takes a special person to do. That would not be me!! I'm sure she will be great. Have a great time and enjoy!!
Good Morning again; I know just what you mean about your pet. I have Annie and I would do anything for her also no matter what it costs. Hey the work will always be there, go and enjoy your self for the weekend. You dog will be fine at the Vet's and they will take good care of her.
The Mystery Quilt is a pattern off of Carriage site. It turned out to be a star pattern, really easy. It was a small quilt and I wanted it to be larger so I added to it and designed my corners out of the pattern for the star and now it is full size. Its coming along fine. I had to fix the back, it was gathered up for some reason, I think the seam I made in the backing was off so I have fixed it and now I am going to quilt what I had to take out. Wish me luck!!!!!!! Then I am going to do the borders this morning also. It looks like rain but very humid out this morning. I wanted to mow the grass but unless the sun comes out that is going to be out for today. It is getting pretty long and it needs to be cut.
I will let you go for now. Have a nice time Paula. ENJOY yourself while you are gone, put everything to the back of your mind that needs to be done and just enjoy the weekend. Be safe.
Hi Paula; You have a terrific time with your girls. Congragualtions on the youngest one graduating. You must be very proud. Enjoy your trip Paula and enjoy shopping at the quilt shop. you deserve it. Don't worry about the house this weekend, its going to rain for several days , there is always time to fix on it. Have a great weekend and have some fun. Talk to you when you get back. Betty
Good Morning Paula; Well the sun is out bright today. I think this morning it is a little chilly however it is to be in the 60's today. I am up early to go and clean two houses this morning. They are sister's and there mom gave them 1 yr of cleaning for Christmas. She called me and asked if I would do it. I told her that was fine. I had 2 other ladies , but one went to the nursing home and the other one passed away on Christmas. Just some little jobs to keep me above water. I went to bed around 2 this morning. Got my quilt all quilted, the middle anyway. When I get home I am going to do the borders and then its ready to bind. Hopefully by this evening it will be completely done. It looks good so far. We will see how it goes to the end. Have a good day Paula, I have to agree with you the girls on this site can take something not so good and make jokes and we all laugh about it. I sure would like to see her in the boots and the nightgown. HA HA I can picture it now. HA HA Happy Quilting and have a great day. Enjoy yourself at the birthday party. Talk with you later on tonight.
Good Evening Paula; Well its pretty quiet up here tonight. Drizzled all day long, it was a real yucky yucky day out. I think the rain can stop anytime. Yes I take a very active place in the church. I am President of the Ladies Auxilliary now, I was the Secretary for 3 years. Decided to try my hand at the President, actually running things. Its alright, I have lots of good ideas and like to share with the ladies. We seem to be doing pretty good. We are getting ready to plan a Luncheon or some kind of a tea and ask the other ladies from the other churches to come and join us. We have ideas like A Luowl, 50's day, crazy hat luncheon, or Christmas in July. We will decide more as we go.
My quilt is looking pretty good, if I say so myself. I decided to do a larger design with loop d loops in it. At least on the middle of the quilt. On the borders I will decide that when I get it off the frame. I am going to do the borders separate then the quilt itself this time. I can do more of a complexed design off the frame. I will let you know if I decide to enter it in the Iowa State Fair. If all goes well I think I will. But I will let you know for sure. Hey maybe if you would like to, we could meet somewhere and go to the Fair together. Unless you had family or someone else to go with you. I usally get my tickets when I send my entry in for the quilt. They give you a chance to get them a little cheaper then at the gate. You can think about it and then let me know. I think that would be fun and we could meet in person. Well better get off here and do something like finish the quilt. Have a good Tuesday.
LOL I don't keep up with them all! Our DD and her 4 lil'ones live in Vegas. Her hubby passed away 3 yrs. ago. Her kiddos are 13, 10, 6 and 4. We have a DD, hubby & 1 son (18) who live in Sioux Falls, SD, our son & wife live across the street from them & have a little girl who is 3. Our DD & hubby and 2 little guys (5 & 2) live in Sheldon, about 10 miles away. They are having a baby girl any day now. Yippee! We have another son who lives 1/2 blk from them. Our youngest is 19 & goes to college in Sheldon. She still lives at home. We are going to be moving to Arnolds Park, IA sometime this summer. Then she will be living in the dorms next year. Arnolds Park and the Iowa Great Lakes are about 1 hr. from Sheldon, so just a nice drive.
Glad your puppy is feeling a bit better. Those tummies are pretty sensitive. Give her lots of hugs!
Thanks for the offer of help if my son's girlfriend ever needs it. She's a sweetheart and her name is Melinda. It's always nice to know there is someone to go to. My daughter in school in FL has a roommate(and now also very good friend) whose aunt lives nearby - makes me feel lots better to know there is someone she could go to if needed.
We quilters here in NW are really blessed. There are many, many quilt stores in the area and there are alot of MN stores near us, too. In South Dakota, there are 2 or 3 in Sioux Falls (1.5 hrs. away) and one in Brandon (about the same distance away). But SD doesn't really have much until you get out in the Hills. I am co-chair of a quilt guild in Spirit Lake. We have 50+ members. There is also another guild there with about 30 members. Estherville, Storm Lake, Spencer and Cherokee are all nearby towns with very actives guilds also, so lots of quilters in this area.
It's in the 40's with drizzle and fog today. Doesn't do much for the fibro, does it? We went to a family reunion today and I kept thinking how this was perfect quilting weather. Then again, ANY weather is good quilting weather in my book. I'm heading to the chiropractor tomorrow and see if there is anything he can do for my hip. I'm not a big fan of chiropractors, but I'll make an exception in this case. Getting up and down from a chair has been a challenge today.
Paula, thanks for the comment on my friendship quilt. Now I just have to get working on quilting it. I noticed you are from Centerville. My son's girfriend got a job there last spring as a chemical engineer with a plastics co. so he's there frequently. He's in school in Ames so they alternate weekends so she can go shopping in Des Moines.
Oh, Paula! Your message is so timely. It's a cool and rainy day in NW Iowa and I can hardly move. When I sat down on the sofa to read your comment, I had a terrible time getting comfortable because of my left hip! Then I read your question about my hip pain. I started laughing and totally agreed. This age thing really sucks!!
Rufus, the black pup, gets car sick. He actually plants his feet if he even has an inkling that we are heading for the vehicle. It's more mental than physical, I think. What a mess sometimes. The trip to the groomer's is always traumatic for him. Bella, the Bichon/shitzu, has only been sick once and that was when my DGS fed her jelly beans on Easter. She loved them, but oh my - not an hour later she was sick. Thankfully she was playing outside at the time. I wouldn't trade these 2 for all the world, but there are some days they just frustrate the heck out of me - just like kids, right?
Just curious - where is Centerville? Don't think I've heard of it before. I used to live in the Clear Lake area in North Central Iowa. Sure miss it. There isn't much here in NW Iowa, but we do have lots of quilt shops! LOL
Hi Paula; It has been storming here also. Last night was Murray's Homecoming, I never go now that my boys are out of school. Grandson is not old enough yet. Soon though. I thought I get on here and see what is been going on. Everyone sounds so busy on here. I bet that is a big relief about the roof for you. I have a trickle in the basement and don't know why. Its by the wood burner so I will have to watch it. Got the shop vac ready to go if it gets to much. My son put a plug in the drain so now that water will not be coming up. it still drains to the old septic tank and when the hole gets full it comes up the pipe to the drain. Got to have the drain cause of the furnace draining in there. It don't run much anymore either cause of the wood burner. Boy that woodburner sure has saved us some money. Well I think I will go and quilt on the Mystery Quilt. If I do a good job on it I just might enter it in the Iowa State Fair. I got the papers today, the sign up sheet will come the end of next week. I didn't enter last year, I did the year before. I think I am better then 2 years ago so maybe just maybe I might get some kind of a ribbon. I hope so, just getting one would be so cool, just entering a quilt is so cool. Going and seeing it on the wall at the Iowa State Fair is great. Always wanted to enter something there. I do the county fairs and that so cool also. Am I nuts???????? No, just doing things I have always wanted to do. Have a good night and a great Sunday.
Hello Paula; I just put some new pics on my page of the birdhouses and my magnolia tree and my horses. I was diagnosed with Lupus before Christmas. I have not been back to the doctor to see what he is going to give my for it. I know last summer I suffered big time when I was outside. I know I should not be outside but its hard when you enjoy so many things outside. My flower gardens and the garden and I like to mow my grass and ride my horses and it don't make no matter if the sun is out or not. Just the light makes me red as a beet. Yes since I was told I have this, my joints ache something awful at times. I need to make a appointment to go in and see him. Hopefully I can get to see him next month. I canceled cause I was buried with medical bills from the biopsy right before Christmas and I didn't want to make no more bills. My son helped me out so I think I can go now. I should not be that way but I do cause of the expense of things. Shame on me. Itching is another big thing with me, I do have some cream for that though I put on at night. Some medicine for that also.
Well I better shut down for the night cause its going to storm here in a little while. Its cooled off some and the sky is dark dark. You have a good night and I will talk to you tomorrow. Have a great weekend. I got a luncheon to go to that our church ladies were invited to at another church and then I think my oldest boy and his family are coming over to visit. I want to get some quilting in this weekend also. Take care.
Morning Paula; Yes Lana will love not having to make the trip to work everyday. I don't miss the work I miss the money. I do miss the gals and guys I used to work with. Some of them have retired now. I bet they are loving it. Well I am up early and going to start the day by finishing the tablerunners, got tired last night so I didn't get as much done. Sounds like a long day for you. Hopefully as nice as today will be the kids will play outside and get all there enery run off and take long nap for you. HA HA Talk to you later.,
Good Evening Paula; well I got my red potatoes planted in the garden this evening. Worked a little in the lastest flower bed, digging around the plants coming up. I know just what is in there cause I redid the bed last summer. Planted some lillies in there from the back yard. Thought they would look good there along the deck in the front of the house. Cleaned the house up today, dusted and vaccumed. Then this evening I finished quilting the tablerunners, now I am getting ready to bind them all. I will take a pic and put it on my page when I am done. So you can see them. What did you do this nice day? I have to watch getting in the sun cause I have Lupus now and I know what happened to me last year when I was outside. Sick the next day and that night when I have been out. So this year I guess I will watch that a little bit better. Oh I plan on being outside, just use my head a little better this year. HA HA You have a nice night Paula talk to you tomorrow.
Hello Paula; Thank you for the birthday wishes. Today was not the best of birthdays. We had Tom's funeral today to go to. Sad Sad day. My spirits were lifted when I got on this old computer though. Everyone has wished me Happy Birthday and that meant so much to me. I don't think I got your email.
Now that your roof is about on I bet you rest better at night. When I got a big job going on I am always relieved when its done. My son just roofed my house so I am glad of that. He is always fixing something for me. He is a good kid. Man actually he is my baby of 25 yrs in November. We were in Des Moines most of the day and you know it was chillier up there then down here at my house. I don't think it even hit 50 up there and when we got closer to home it was 52 down here. What a deal, in the change of weather. Suppose to be a nice week, up in the upper 70's later on in the week. That will be great. Got a few more things to put in the garden and then the garden will be full. We need a bigger garden. HA HA Paula you have a good night and a great week. Now that things have settled down its time to get to quilting and finishing my projects so I can start a new one. Take care
