Alli--I was so concerned about you when i read your comment just now. Never apologize for venting on here--listening and nodding (b/c we've been there) is the primary reason many of us come to this site. I can understand why you are so frustrated--don't know who your "slobs" are, but i do know that when you share living space with others, you need their cooperation just to make life work, much less make it pleasant. You are not being too demanding (or nagging or whatever) when you stand up and state clearly that you are "mad as hell and not going to take it any more." I hope you find a way to get the help you need from these folks and that it happens really soon. i don't know if this will help or not: a few weeks ago, i reached the point of no return with someone I love very dearly, and I laid that in front of him. It wasn't an ultimatum or a threat to get my way--I just couldn't go on any longer the way things were. All the arguments I had used in the past were ineffective, but when he saw that I had reached that breaking point, it finally got through. And he took the steps necessary to begin fixing the problem. It hasn't been easy for either of us, but it is working. I will be praying for you to find your own fix and get the help you need. Bless you!
Aili, just read your comment on Joana's post and just wanted to stop by to let you know I feel for you. It is so frustrating when you can't get some help from the ones you love. You're right, nagging doesn't help and we end up not liking ourselves when we do it, but sometimes even with honey they are clueless. I'm not sure what the answer is, but hopefully (soon) they'll wise up to understand you need them to help shoulder your burden at home. I know it probably doesn't help much, but hang in there! PQ
Thanks for the encouraging words! It was difficult, and I know I could have done better, but for a first piece I'm okay with it. I too am a fan of vintage work. I love your butterfly quilt-so beautiful!

Thanks for the comment on my quilt. Sorry--this quilt belongs to my husband. I gave it to him for Christmas a couple of years ago. Made with Kansas Troubles fabric scraps, with a special request. My husband has sinus problems and sometimes sits up for a while at night. He asked for a quilt with a pocket for his feet.....so that is what he got!
Hi, Aili. Thanks for the compliment. Both the cherries and the hot peppers are my favorite - primary colors. I've given a lot of my bags away. I have 2 daughters and 9 sisters and brothers. The winter just seems so long this year and tote bags are quick to make unlike quilts. I have about 20 lap and baby quilts to finish but I am having difficulty getting motivated. I purchased a Viking Mega Quilter and frame, but I just can't seem to get the tension right so now I plan to finish the quilts with free motion quilting on my sewing machine. Do you free motion quilt?

Aili, Thanks for commenting on the blog about quilt labels. I wish I could claim good penmenship skills. That's actually how the computer quilt labels came about. For some reason I can't manage to write worth a darn and I get the ink everywhere. The computer, I can pint it out on paper and fix it before I waste the fabric!
I love your "vintage" butterful quilt, it's beautiful. I really hate applique, but have found an old pieced butterfly pattern that I want to try one of these days.
Yes, Aili. My friends and I went quilt shop hopping yesterday. We covered 200 miles and 4 shops with one yet to visit as we were having so much fun we ran out of time. We started in Big Fork, MT and worked our way north to Kalispell, Whitefish and will finish in Eureka which is close to our homes. I hope you enjoyed the pictures....judy
