Hi Lanie! Merry Christmas to you and your family! It's been a long time since we corresponded. I haven't forgotten about you and all your kindness and prayers when I was sick. I'm doing well, thank the Lord. I have finished a new quilt called Birds and Berries and have posted it on my page. I hope you will take a look at it. What are you working on these days? Have a wonderful Christmas! Love, Becky
Hello my friend Lanie! How are you? I hope well. I am doing fine. Have good days and bad days because of lack of energy and my muscles and joints hurt. it's a side effect of the medicine I have to be on for 5 years. I just love your little Owl you have in your pictures. May I ask where you found the pattern? He's really cute. I'm working on an Irish Chain Quilt in greens for my daughter. It's going really well. We are all hoping for warmer weather - today being the first day of Spring here - we are all tired of snow LOL. What have you been up to? Take care and was thinking of you and just had to write - Hugs, Becky xoxoxoxoxo
Hello Lanie! It's been ages since we talked. I am doing o.k. Finished up chemo in October, then had 2 surgeries and then radiation. I am not back to work yet. Now I have been having sinus headaches and am headed to doctor again today. Medicine he gave me helped but never completely took headaches away and they are back in my eyes again and forehead. I LOVE your owl - I'd love to have the pattern! My e-mail is email@example.com if you would like to share. I hope you and your family are all well. Hugs to you, Becky Carmichael
Good morning Lanie, It's been awhile since I seen any post from you and wondering how things are going with you. I suppose it getting fall over there as Spring is around the corner here. I just made another one of those purses, like the one you made. I have made three for myself but ended up giving them away so I'm hoping this one I will be able to keep. I have another purse cut out and ready to start sewing for my friend in Indiana. Her birthday is April 1st so I decided I needed to get cracking on that. I have had a great Winter, We have had very little snow, some nice warm days in the 40's and 50's F but also some very cold days mixed in. I hope your having a wonderful Summer and doing allot of fun things. I'm looking forward to the Shop Hop coming up the end of April and also a visit with my friend Jenny from England, who is coming in Aug. for two weeks. Hugs ~ Irene
Lanie thank you so much for the info on the tea cozy. Tell your SIL she should do a tutorial for her cozy ...no....she should write a pattern and sell it because it is far more beautiful than the ones she used for inspiration!!! I am going to use hers (and Your Picture) for my inspiration!!! I will post a pic when done!!! Again thanks to both of you for sharing. By the way Lanie Your quilts are wonderful!!!
The embassy called and said they want to do a full investigation of their own now and they can't say how long it will take them....so I guess we again go home without him. They said we can call but they will not have any news until they call us about our case.....so yeah.....don't call us we'll call you sort of situation!!! grrrrrr!!! At least it was not a no just yet! ;0)
The US Embassy is who we have to satisfy. We are already Nameer's legal guardians here in Pakistan. A person from the Embassy came to our home on Friday. He asked several neighbors about us....all of them were good people and even informed us later of their conversations. The man again asked so many questions. Safeer took him to the cemetary and showed him Naeem's grave to prove he is in deed dead. Then he took him to the hospital to prove Aliya was there with her current husband and the newborn baby. We hope it's a good sign that they sent a caseworker of their own to verify all the things we told were true. Dad returned late the same night he went to get the post mortem report and some photos. We scanned them and emailed them to the Embassy this weekend. We hope to hear something from them today calling us back to the Embassy. They do want Aliya to go with us for a better interview, they said it was too noisy in the hospital to have a good discussion....plus she was in so much physical discomfort as you can imagine. The baby was 4 KG which is about 8.8 pounds. We are still trying to pick a name lol Our internet was not connecting for 2 days so hubby had to go to an internet cafe to send the email to the Embassy. I will keep posting any update as possible. Love you....thanks so much for all the positive words and prayers!!! xoxox
Well we went to the Embassy without the birth mother. They seemed annoyed about that but "interviewed" my husband and told me to sit outside. He told me they treated him more like a criminal in interrogation!!! They would not have dared talk to me that way!!! No wonder they wanted me to sit out. They wanted a post mortem report from the hospital about our dead brother and marriage photos of him and Aliya and her with this new husband and other things that they didn't tell us they wanted any other time. Dad is going to Peshawar near Afghanistan to visit Aliya's family to get all of those things that they have. Poor man has worked so hard for us to gather all the things we needed for this process. God Bless him!!! The Embassy is supposed to call Monday to see if Aliya is alright to come for an interview then. She had her baby at noon yesterday (Thursday). We are 10 hours ahead of US Central time zone if that helps you! ;0) Baby and mom are fine and healthy and coming home in a few hours. I have not been able to see him yet, but they say he is an exact duplicate of Nameer!!! lol
Hi Lanie! I miss you too but I think we have both been busy with everything going on these days. I went with Safeer to St. Louis, Missouri for a few days while he was in meetings. I met another lady Norma from this website over there. I had met her before so invited her to come and join me for a day. I got some fabric to make something special for Yumi....I hope I can get it done before Christmas!
I am sorry to hear about your wisdom teeth giving you problems. I had a lot of problems with mine and had them surgically removed 18 years ago or so......seems like yesterday lol The memory of pain still lingers!!! I am glad you are starting to feel better. Just be careful what you eat for a while. It's good you were able to have a nice birthday with your parent's visit and all.
Francois made a good choice with a smaller school that is closer to home. I think he will be happy with that decision. It will make it easier on you too that he is not so far away, especially if he has lots of extra activities with the school! ;0)
It is still really hot here. We have officially tied or beaten the record of hot days and no rain since 1936!!!!! NOT GOOD!!! I am so eager for cooler days and nights to finally set in.
Take good care and hope to chat with you again soon! xoxox
I made another one of those purses the other day also. I didn't get a pic of it. I made it for an auction. I didn't think of taking a picture until the next day when it was too late. I did go get some more fabric to make another one like it. I thought it was pretty fabric. It had blueberries on it. Today I'm working on "football" place mats. These are going to Indiana at Christmas. I'm trying to get at my Christmas sewing. Allot to do and time is slipping away. I hope you post a pic of your new purse.
Hi Lanie, I just happened across your page and saw that you were looking for aircraft fabric. If you google quiltshops.com and then search with a keyword like aircraft I'll bet you'll find what you need. :)
Lanie, I miss talking with you too. It seems I keep missing people on chat. I LOVE your DMIL quilt. I think I have that pattern. I'm not a "big" quilt person and do mostly smaller projects so my patterns sit idle while I admire everyone elses beautiful quilts. I'm going to dig out my pattern today for a diaper bag. I have a baby shower coming up next week so have to get cracking on it. Have a great day.
