Jackie-After I sent you the last message, i noticed your last name and since you are in the DM area, I thought you might be related to Kyle Orton. I was wondering if we had a celeb in our group!! LOL
Boy you know all the hot tips on shops in the area. Looks as if there are a lot to see. Maybe I should make it a couple day trip to see Nate in DM! Better make sure that I don't spend all my money in the casino! I did get lucky last night when my girlfriend and I went to the Diamond Jo here in town. Came home with $80 extra dollars. Wish I could do that more often. I'm not much of a gambler. I spend my $20 and then go home!! At. least I know when to quit.
As for the Cubbies, I've been saying maybe next year since '67 and still waiting. We usually hit a spring training series in Mesa sometime in March, but after October's dissappointment, I don't think they'll be seeing me at anymore games for a while.
Hello Jackie; I do not live to far from you. I live straight South of Thayer right behind the rock quarry on P64. Where is your quilt guide from? Is it made up of ladies right in your area? I would really like to get started with a group right around my neck of the woods. I tried to start one this past summer, I just don't think I got the word out to well. Nice to meet you. Betty
Hi, Jackie. I am from Altoona, an eastern suburb of DSM. I know what you mean about joining online groups cutting into your sewing time! I really had to think about it too! I have a 4 year old son, so I really only get to quilt when he's either at preschool, napping or in bed at night. Oh, and then there's my husband too- I suppose he would like to see me every once in a while! ;o)
Right now I am working on a quilt that I designed on Quilt Design wizard. Have you ever heard of that program? It's made by electric quilt, but it's way easier than EQ6! I love it. I plan to get EQ6 in the future- sometime- if I can stop buying more machines that is!
Jackie-How lucky are you to be in the Winterset area and close to those quilt godesses! I keep thinking one of these days, I would really love to visit their shop. My oldest son lives in Des Moines, so I suppose I could kill two birds with one stone on a visit.
You know, I tried going to a Quilt Guild meeting here in DBQ, but was really disappointed. It's a very large group, but they really didn't seem very welcoming to a new person. A lady that I knew from JoAnn Fabrics had given me the information on the meeting, but she wasn't at the meeting that I went to. Their welcoming committee really didn't do their job. I haven't been back since then. Too bad, because it would be nice to have some quilt buddies here in town. None of my friends in Dubuque quilt or sew for that matter. A couple of my friends from home, the Chicago area quilt, but I don't get back that way very often, so it's just email most of the time. Guess this website will help fulfill my quilt buddy needs!!
By the way, love the sweatshirts in your picture! Too bad we didn't make the playoffs!! Although it would have really surprised me if they did! I married a Cheesehead Packer fan. Sundays during football season gets hairy around my house. Someone's always mad!! LOL
Good morning, Jackie! First off - I need that mug! That is so great! Manchester is on highway 20 between Dubuque and Waterloo, 20 miles west of the Field of Dreams. Your "about me" seems identical to my feelings. I am vowing to try some new things this year, and I belong to the guild in this area. I don't have a lot of quilting buddies yet, so this has been really fun for me these past 2 days.
