A new quilter, just learning the joy of quilting within the local quilting group. I have been a knitter and needlepointer for most of my life so this is something entirely new to me. I helped with the hand quilting of the charity quilt last year, and this year did some machine stitching and now hand quilting of this years charity quilt. I have started making my own quilt with the help of the quild members.
Adele, glad you didn't suffer any from Hurricane Earl. I was looking at a map today and thought of you and wondered how you had made out. Thanks for answering so fast so that I didn't need to worry any longer.
thank you all for my birthday wishes, I am overwhelmed ........
it's too bad my computer skills and time is limited as I would love to be able to spend it finding out more about quilting from everyone on Quilt with Us, no doubt that will happen some day. My quilting group Tidal Threads Quilting and Needlework Group of Grand Manan just had their 2nd show this July, which was an outstanding success. Considering we are an island of 2500 people we have a quilting and needlework group of 20 and are able to put on a 2 day show which captures off island people, that means quilters and their likes who are willing to take a drive to a ferry and then a 90 minute ferry trip to the island to see our show and then do the reverse to go home.......I think it says something for our group, don't you? I am so proud to be a new quilter of this group, even though I spend more hours knitting my lace scarves to sell at the Farmers Market, I do manage to quilt a little. I just need more hours in the day, or maybe two sets of hands!! This year I hope to complete my first quilt and at least finish sewing the top of my second one; especially as I have the fabric for my third project!!
Happy Birthday Adele. Hope you have a very special day! Where in NB are you? I am hoping to get home to PEI sometime this summer/fall and hoping to meet up with some of the quilters in Fredricton, Moncton and Calais, ME. Let me know where you are and maybe you can meet us too. Why don't you join the group in QWU called the Quilting Canadians. We would love to have you join us.
The challenge is out, lets see how many of us can join the wonderful new campaign called Stitching for Pink !!! Starts today until 30 October. Its gonna be so much fun with 10 projects to complete. Come on Embroiderers lets unite and join the fight against Breast Cancer !!!
I am excited to be attending my first workshop next week where I will be learning about borders and also making a Christmas table runner. I am still working on my first quilt which I started last year, it is coming along really well. I am at the hand quilting stage and enjoying it very much. Unfortunately my knitting has taken priority over it at the moment as I am busy with knitting lacy scarves to sell at the Farmers Market. I will finish the quilt this coming spring as I am excited about starting a new one!!
