Quilt With Us

Hello Everyone, with 2 snow days this week I was able to sew quite a bit. In fact, I'm working on Block 6 right now, but have run into a problem. I have to question the size of F, I, and K at 4 and 3/4, cutting TWICE diagonally. Unless I'm doing something incorrectly(which I've done twice now) my block sewed together only measures 2 and 1/2 square where it should measure 4 inches square in order to sew to H. I'm not savvy enough to know how big they really should be cut originally to measure 4" when sewed together. HELP! What am I doing wrong. It looks like block 9 calls for the same square.

I think I've solved the problem. I cut the 4 and 3/4 square only ONCE instead of TWICE as the direction says, sewed it to the other half and it turns out to be a 4 inch square when finished. I'm going to re-cut my colors for the 3rd time now and see if it works.
If you check out my photos you will see that I have completed block 6. To answer my own question above and for those who have not cut block 6 yet, I cut the 4 and 3/4 inch square for letters F, I and k only ONCE. If you cut them TWICE as the direction says, they will be too small.
