Love those huge sampler quilts with tiny blocks (like a Dear Jane quilt) but don't feel quite up to making one? Then this group is for you! We will be making one using larger (six inch) blocks and our quilt will have ONLY 140 blocks.

Welcome Fellow Slackers!

Not up for doing two-hundred and twenty-five 4" blocks? Then this group is for you! We will be using Jennifer Chiaverini's book, Sylvia's Bridal Sampler from Elm Creek Quilts to make ONLY (?) one-hundred and forty 6" blocks. The challenge is to have the quilt finished in one year. We will officially begin on June 15, 2009 and finish on June 15, 2012, however, please join in the fun anytime. You can see that I will be making mine from our new collection Hearth & Home but you can use anything you like. This quilt is a good way to use up all your scraps and in the end you will have an amazing quilt.

I will be making the blocks in the same order as they appear in the quilt not how they are alphabetically listed in the book but you are free to make them in any order you like. Each week pictures and tips will be posted in the Discussion Forum. Since some of you will be making them in the order they appear in the book or in no particular order we will include those blocks in the discussion too. A list of each block has magically appeared and you can post your tips and/or pictures under the blocks you made. Everyone is encouraged to add tips and/or pictures of their blocks. Our only rule is that each block has to be different. Let the fun begin!

How's everyone doing? I would love to see this group chatting & active again, how about you all? Once again, hubby & I are on our way to CA again, tonight we are in Kingman, AZ at a KOA. It's been a long week, but we are getting closer, yeah! What's everyone working on now? I have been working on a couple of Millefiori quilts, & I have started knitting again! Socks, at the moment, & a wrap, how fun! Post when you can, would love to hear from you all!!!!...

In the discussion area above, you will find a lot of photographs of the different blocks, including "Look Who Finished". That ought to help answer some of your questions.

I chose to use two different backgrounds, but the colors are all over the place for mine.

I'd love to start this, have ordered the book from Amazon. I'd like to know if there are any others who are starting or have already finished.

I have several questions for those of you already started.
(1) did you choose the same background for all the blocks or just what ever you have on hand?
(2) are you choosing a color theme or making it scrappy? I'm having a hard time coding if I should go with the colors of the time frame (civil war) or something else.

Your thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

HeHe My sister lives in Chugiak which is just a hop skip and jump from Anchorage. Her 2 daughters and their families live in Anchorage and I went there the summer/fall of 2006 and would have stayed if I could have. I have not been in cold weather but think I would like to try it. Maybe you could just deliver their Christmas gifts for me since they are ready. LOL I have 15 quilts that are packaged already and 2 more are in the process of getting labels and bindings and another on the quilting frame. I am not going to quit now. Just staying busy!

I bet you 2 enjoyed your cruises and I would love to see a few pics of whatever you saw.

I haven't worked on SBS for while but have lots of blocks ready to work on. I just got back from a cruise to Japan. I did some handpiecing with Inklingo printed pieces. Getting ready to go up to Alaska. I plan to get back to SBS this winter.

I know that if I sit and chat I am not quilting and I still have more of my UFOs to finish if I am going to finish my challenge of getting them all done. I have finished about 15 - 20 of them and have more than that left to go. Do you think I am going to get them all done before Christmas?
