I am a long time member of "Quilting With Us" (QWU). I used to give virtual workshops here. Like many others, I have ventured out as QWU became more quiet.

We are getting the warning that QWU is at risk of being disabled. I fear this is a sign that QWU will one day be no more.

It has become like family here and the thought of losing the friendships we have developed has giving me a sad heart. Like many dark clouds, there is a silver lining. When I ventured out, I created a quilters social network, much like QWU. I never mentioned it, for it was a conflict of interest. However, in this dark hour, it is time to let others know there is an alternative. It does not have to end here.

I would be honored for QWU members to join "Pattern Pastiche". If needed, we are more than happy to create a group for your new home.

Welcome JEN!!  I live just west of the cities....you will LOVE all the Shop Hops in Minnesota!!  lol

There is a Twin Cities shop hop that should be starting soon...sometime in April.  Check with Glad Creations (34th & Bloomington)...south Mpls.  This shop hop covers quilt shops in Mpls & St Paul.

There is a Minnesota - State wide, Shop Hop Aug 3 - 19th which includes 77 quilt shops.  Grand prize drawing is a trip for 2 to Alaska!

And then there is the Wild West Shop Hop that is in November.

We do not have a shortage of fabric shops!!! LOL

Hi Ladies!  I'm so glad I found this group...I hunted for a midwest connection a few months back but missed it.  I'm a transplanted Milwaukee gal living in the Twin Cities now with my husband and two boys.  I took a quilting class about 4 years ago and was seriously bitten by the bug last summer.  I'm currently trying to finish up a couple of UFOs so I can try my hand at a Paula Nadelstern kaleidoscope kind of thing.  I love fabric shopping (my sister has a name for that, she always seems to call to chat when I'm at one of the local stores...lol) and I've pretty much sucked her into quilting too now.  We just finished a quilt top for my mom for Mother's Day that's at the longarmer's as we wanted it really snazzed up - way beyond either of us at the moment.  I'm looking forward to sharing and learning from all of you!

This is for Mary, A great get away is in Shipshewana, Indiana. I know it isn't

quite the local you were looking for, but it is well worth it. Great Amish quilt and fabric shops, great restuarants and lots of hotels in the small towns around it. If you need any extra info, I would be happy to give you names of great eats and places to stay. I live is Central Illinois and it was

about a 4 hour trip for me. It would be closer for you I think. It is over

above Gary, Indiana, very close to the Michigan border. Hope this might help. Gay Lynn
