This is the way I quilt too! Love it! My husband has been a great inspiration to me & my quilting, & creativity in general. I learned long ago, to think out of the box, & I like my quilts to look a bit different than anyone else's. That's what makes it fun, doesn't it! I may start with a pattern, or design I like, then it just takes off from there. I like lots of different fabrics in my quilts too, so am forever buying fat quarters, they seem to work great for the way I like to quilt! Nice to find someone else out there that likes to quilt the way I do, lol!

I actually just made them up Happymrs. nine patch you can make up any size so I did one on point and then staight across. the other was what was left of the stips so I just made that as I went along. We all have a little bit of ingenuity in us. Do you follow a pattern to the "T" or do you pic your own fabric? do you not change something as you go along? mistakes are new creations..LOL...and that is how you become a designer. Most times these designs happen by "accident"

Where did you find the patterns for these postcard size quilts, they look really neat! Great use of scraps too!

LOL.. I have heard much about this insanity quilt!! and seen many blogs with the blocks and yes some of those blocks could even be made into a mini quilt all by themselves!!
I think this group can become quite big with all the enthusiasm.. thanks Carla for the referral I hope to be the biggest little group going!! LOL

Thanks Carla (Budsgram) for directing me to this group. My little quilts aren't quite mini's but I'm working in that direction! I love the little post card minis! Even on my larger quilts I prefer to work with smaller pieces. My main EPP project is the Insanity quilt from the Australian Patchwork and Quilting magazine - the hexagons are half-inch and it will be a bed size quilt - I think...maybe...some day....

these are post card size 3x6in..I had made them to look like little quilts on post cards. The little blocks them selves the pieces are 1/4in finished so each block is 1 1/2 inches...they were absolutely fun to make with strip piecing.
I sewed the strips 1/4 in seam and then cut the seam 1/8in and ironed open for less bulk. Then pellon was used as the fiber inbetween so that I had to iron the mini quilts on and then cut the Pellon to size...I used a little decorative stitching for the quilting.
Thanks for asking I think you can see that there is a 60mm rotary cutter beside the postcards to show the size

I was wondering what the dimension on the quilts in the picture for the group are, they look really tiny. I need to take a picture of my first mini and add to my page, maybe tomorrow.
