He is cute as a button! But does he have to be around all those gun-looking things??? Ha!

Very cool. I just talked to my son and he received today a package I sent. He was all excited even though he knew it was just the things he had asked me to send. He said a list is posted of those who have mail and it's like getting picked for the basketball team if your name is on the list! I comment that I didn't realize mail would make him that happy. He explained it's just hard to be away from home and everything and everyone you know so getting something is just so nice. Ok, I'm feeling really guilty now since I only sent him one package last year when he was deployed to UAE, Al Dhafra Air Base. Bad mommy. I emailed him all the time but now I know that's just not the same as getting physical mail. He is really going to appreciate the postcards and anything else that is sent his way. I'm going to attempt to post a picture of him taken this week. Thanks everyone for your interest, love, and caring for all that serve in our military.

So, we shipped Girl Scout Cookies to Elaine's son at Ft. Hood today and the mother of another friend works with a group in Florida that puts together boxes and ships them with lots of stuff. She's going to send hers to Elaines' son when he leaves for Kabul. This is awesome stuff!

OK, I finished my first one this weekend. It's kinda goofy but it was so fun to do. One down!

Jennifer, Go to the 2nd page and you'll see the address we have for Elaine's sone. We're hoping to get more names but that's what we have so far! Polkadot, so glad you joined us! You're the postcard expert so those of us who haven't made them appreciate your guidance! Jackye, you too for taking the initiative to find instructions. I'm currently in 2008 Year-End Closing (of our budget) hades... seriously, I'll be somewhat inactive until we close the books around 6p on January 8. UGH!

Oh yeah, I didn't think to warn you about that. :-) They do want your name/address/email (to send you the soldier address and to keep track of how many requests you make because there is a limit of 20 addresses per month). I've used them several times over the last year and never had a problem, and the addresses they give you do work, as I've gotten responses from the military people I've written to. I agree its a confusing way to do things though! :-)

nikki, that anysoldier site is confusing. i got nervous because they requested too much information from me.

I have some done too, so I'll try to get one off to him soon. Do you all know about anysoldier.com? You can also request addresses from that site to send things to (if we don't get many others on this forum and you want to send some more). But they ask that you only request the address on the day you are sending stuff out, because they change frequently.

Thanks Polkadot! My son will love the postcard I'm sure. I can't wait to hear what he thinks of getting quilter postcards!
