We're celebrating our new online community with another Block of the Month Quilt Along! Simply buy the pattern or the kit (click here), and join us as we sew this beautiful country quilt called Southern Stars Sampler, designed by Paula Stoddard of Pacific Patchwork. Together we will be sewing two blocks a month over the next six months to make this 12 block quilt. Share tips, photos, meet new friends, see product previews, and more all for free. Hosted by Kristin Gassaway, Connecting Threads designer.

1. No purchase is required to join this group. However, if you'd like to make the project, just purchase the Southern Stars Sampler pattern or kit here.
2. Timeframe: Approximately 6 months, starting in January 2009.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in
the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link
to "Join Southern Stars Block of the Month Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page.
Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.
5. Cheer on your fellow quilters as you go!

NEW: To show your finished blocks in one of the slideshows, post a picture to your own photos on your personal page and add a "tag" in all lower case. The tag should be " southern stars" (don't type the quotation marks). I'll go through the photos regularly and add them as I see them. Now we can all oohh and aahhh at everyones beautiful blocks!

Comment by MsDesigns on September 22, 2020 at 8:09am: I am a long time member of "Quilting With Us" (QWU). I used to give virtual workshops here. Like many others, I have ventured out as QWU became more quiet.

We are getting the warning that QWU is at risk of being disabled. I fear this is a sign that QWU will one day be no more.

It has become like family here and the thought of losing the friendships we have developed has giving me a sad heart. Like many dark clouds, there is a silver lining. When I ventured out, I created a quilters social network, much like QWU. I never mentioned it, for it was a conflict of interest. However, in this dark hour, it is time to let others know there is an alternative. It does not have to end here.

I would be honored for QWU members to join "Pattern Pastiche". If needed, we are more than happy to create a group for your new home.

Comment by Sognstitcher Lana/MN on October 31, 2010 at 10:31am: I have to say that I enjoyed this pattern so much. Everything was soooo accurate. Good designer and good testers. I would do this one again anytime.
My new favorite book is Scrap Basket Surprises by Kim Brackett. I love every one in the book. I'm planning to make two of them already. Check it out. I got mine from CT, so it should be there. My first two choices are Bali Sea Star and Monkey Business.
