Hello all I'm just starting to get serious about trying to sell my quilted projects and have questions about pricing and the market for selling handcrafted objects.  I've posted various photos of past projects, but I'm interested in only selling art quilts created from photos like (Lady, Trouble, and Tai), concentrating on commissions.  I've received lots of  positive feedback from people who don't quilt, but they can't give me an ideas to what people are actually paying these days in the quilting field.  Please feel free to offer any comments about my quilts you think would be helpful in this endeavor, and advice on getting started in this business.

Hello all, I am new to this group. I began machine quilting for hire almost two years ago....and still struggle juggling home with a home business. How do you do it all?

If you keep an eye out for the end of October, early November, she usually runs a membership special during Quilt Market for something like 30% off the membership fee.

You can receive her email newsletter even if you are not a member.

Becky, does Morna have a web site?

Do you all know about the Professional Quilter? Originally a magazine, it is now a lot more. Morna offers coaching and seminars and regular info. I have not joined it, because I haven't felt like the cost was something I could justify, but she recently did a conference call that is free to listen to on here:

I think it is full of helpful information. I took three pages of notes!

Michelle, Angela Walters has been writing about LAQ business matters on her blog "Quilting Is My Therapy" so you might want to check out what she has been saying.  She just started the series this past August (is it really September?).

It has been a while since i have been in here.  I recently decided, by recently I mean three weeks ago on Sunday, I decided to open a long are quilting business!!!  I  had been wanting to do it for a few years and my parents are helping me do it!  I am super excited and everything is done with my studio except my DH and I are working on the walls this weekend and then the floor, which I have already. My machine comes on the 22nd of September after i arrive home from Lancaster PA on the 16th.   I am so excited and hope I will have plenty of customers so I can make my payments   I am getting the Gammill Optimum Statler Stitcher on a 14 ft table.  I will be up and running by Oct, 1st.  Check out my website and give suggestions if you like.  Thanks for all of the suggestions yall have written about ,  /I hope to be more active here since I will be needing all the advice I can get!  Here is the link to Butter Bean Quilting
