I see that this group doesn't currently have active discussion going on... but I sure am hoping to gain some direction for my new biz.  I'm green!  I am looking into Professional Quilter.com... but I am wondering if there is someone who would like to be a mentor in this area for me and others who are trying to get started.  thanks

Hello all I'm just starting to get serious about trying to sell my quilted projects and have questions about pricing and the market for selling handcrafted objects.  I've posted various photos of past projects, but I'm interested in only selling art quilts created from photos like (Lady, Trouble, and Tai), concentrating on commissions.  I've received lots of  positive feedback from people who don't quilt, but they can't give me an ideas to what people are actually paying these days in the quilting field.  Please feel free to offer any comments about my quilts you think would be helpful in this endeavor, and advice on getting started in this business.

Hello all, I am new to this group. I began machine quilting for hire almost two years ago....and still struggle juggling home with a home business. How do you do it all?

If you keep an eye out for the end of October, early November, she usually runs a membership special during Quilt Market for something like 30% off the membership fee.

You can receive her email newsletter even if you are not a member.

Becky, does Morna have a web site?

Comment by Becky Ray on September 8, 2012 at 3:14pm

Do you all know about the Professional Quilter? Originally a magazine, it is now a lot more. Morna offers coaching and seminars and regular info. I have not joined it, because I haven't felt like the cost was something I could justify, but she recently did a conference call that is free to listen to on here:

I think it is full of helpful information. I took three pages of notes!

Michelle, Angela Walters has been writing about LAQ business matters on her blog "Quilting Is My Therapy" so you might want to check out what she has been saying.  She just started the series this past August (is it really September?).

Road home quilting, thank you for the link to the software.  It looks great.  I  would love to try that out.
