I am a long time member of "Quilting With Us" (QWU). I used to give virtual workshops here. Like many others, I have ventured out as QWU became more quiet.

We are getting the warning that QWU is at risk of being disabled. I fear this is a sign that QWU will one day be no more.

It has become like family here and the thought of losing the friendships we have developed has giving me a sad heart. Like many dark clouds, there is a silver lining. When I ventured out, I created a quilters social network, much like QWU. I never mentioned it, for it was a conflict of interest. However, in this dark hour, it is time to let others know there is an alternative. It does not have to end here.

I would be honored for QWU members to join "Pattern Pastiche". If needed, we are more than happy to create a group for your new home.

What are we doing right now? Are we trying to come up with a quilt top for all of us make? I think a quilt top that shows what America means to each of us would be fun and I am sure that they would all be different--for example mine would be very patroitic and dedicated to the military as I am a viet nam vet.

This sounds wonderful, Patricia...would love to see it even in 'draft' form. Thanks to Irene and Hapybren, We now have the words to 'We Want America Back' which can serve as great inspiration for quilt blocks. I am going to try and scan my 'draft' and see what you all think ... my hubby is putting together a peice of new furniture for my office/sewing room and it sounds as if not going well....we are redoing my beloved room because it simply needs to be simplified!! Starting with painting, a new type of flooring ..carpeting just isn't working .. covering an old chair found on side of curb for my new sewing chair...putting up shelves ...etc....lots of work ...think I better go read directions to my hubby...something that is foreign to a man!!! Have a good day.....

I have designed an applique "I still believe" which features an eagle, the Washington monument, the statue of liberty, scales of justice, flag raising at Iwojima, star, scroll of the constitution, 11 items in all. It is still in the design stage on EQ.. not a reality in fabric yet.

What about a scrappy flag block using half square triangles?
