Quilt With Us

The tutorial is live!  This is the truly beginner way to quilt your three layers together.  It's the fastest way too!  Try inviting friends over to make the time go more quickly.

When I'm really super lazy, instead of doing the actual thread ties, I use my sewing machine and just zigzag in place a few times to create a machine tack, but in all the same places I would have added a tie.  Super fast on baby quilts!

What are your favorite fast and easy methods to quilt your layers together?

Next week will be filled with inspiration!

Quilt without a batting -
If I don't have a batting and the quilt is for a baby and it's for summertime, I just use a flannel backing, then quilt in the ditch - it's light enough so that it can be used as a wrap also.
I do a lot of Christening quilts, so I use the blue water soluble marker on the white quilts to mark the spots where I want to put a tie. I use white ribbon with a button tack stitch to attach white 12 inch ribbon pieces without cutting the thread until they are all attached. I cut the threads and double knot them when I am done and tie the ribbons into cute little bows.
