Beginner Nine Patch! - Techniques 2010

March 20, 2010 is National Quilting Day, but we feel that's not quite enough to honor our craft, so we like to celebrate all month long! One of the ways we're celebrating this year is to help teach someone new to quilt. This month's technique is intended for the beginner quilter.

The Nine Patch Block is an excellent beginner block with tons of design potential. In the first lesson, we'll demonstrate the very basics of this block. The second lesson will show you strip piecing, a method to make many of the same block, more quickly. In the third lesson we'll show you how to tie a quilt and the final week will be a visual guide of inspiration to get your own design ideas flowing.

If you're an experienced quilter, please share this tutorial with a newbie, a wannabe, or just someone you think might be inspired by learning something new.

Hi All. These groups with CT are really fantastic. We have friends, that we can chat with. Teachers that are willing to give a lot of there time and expertise.. and then to top it all off, we have a store right at our fingertips....to purchase any quilting item, that we just can't do without. Look forward to being in this quilt-along with all of you. We will have lots of fun. Love to you, Anne from MA

I am ready to go and I cannot wait to get started working with you as a group. I have been quilting for a couple of years and I have never really had any instruction. This will be very good for me.

Hi Karen. I am so ready to teach another person the basics of quilting. I was looking for a group here for people wanting to share their quilt joy before you even posted this one! I have started 4 people (one husband, 3 sisters)off to a good start. Ready for class!

We're posting this Quilt Along a little early for those people who might see it in our latest catalog that drops any day. Join us March 1st when the Quilt Along, Lesson 1, really begins, and every Monday after that for all four lessons.
