Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along

Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along

To celebrate National Quilt Month in March, Connecting Threads will offer a Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along. This is our third Mystery Quilt - yes, we skipped 2015 - and promises to be lots of fun for all. We think you will enjoy making this three-part pattern. The catch is that you won’t know what the quilt looks like until Part 3!

What are the dates of the quilt along?
3/2 - MQ2016 - Fabric Selection
3/16 - MQ2016 - Part 1
3/23 - MQ2016 - Part 2
3/30 - MQ2016 - Part 3
4/6 - MQ2016 - Conclusion

What is the size of the finished quilt? It will be a lap quilt or throw, approximately 57-1/2" x 69-1/2".

Where will I find the pattern?
Each week's pattern and related tutorials will be available as PDF downloads in the Quick Link section and Discussion Forum below.

What is the skill level of this quilt?
Borderline of Easy/Intermediate. This would not be a good first quilt. A confident beginner, with experience sewing 1/4" seams, may find the quilt a challenge but doable.

How do I select my fabric?
Mystery Quilt 2016 Fabric Selection Suggestions Revised 3-3-16 PDF

Any special tools required?
General quilting supplies
81639 Omnigrip Neon  6-1/2" Square Ruler (optional)

Will be taking pictures tomorrow - weather permitting.  Daughter from Texas helped me set up place outside for me to hang quilts so I can take pictures.  Need to get that done right away and one is nearly 9 feet long (from another mystery).  This one would be able to be hung in house, but the hooks I used didn't hold on wall!!!  So much for their promises to hold and not damage the walls until you remove them!!  Paper surface of the sheetrock let loose - paint, hook and all- really not the hooks fault.

The group sure has been quiet for a few days - can tell the quilt along has wound down.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the barn swallows.  We noticed ours are back and prepping their nests for the this years babies.  Always fun to see them return.  Following doctors orders is not always easy, especially when you want to do things, like quilt, but those days lie ahead!  Continue to take care of yourself, Gmakitty.

Today was a lovely day, sat and watch the Barn Swallows making lazy circles in the sky.... still not quilting, just resting/gmakitty

Thanks Ann!  This was a wonderful quilt to make!

I haven't been able to get on here due to some error messages.  Not even getting notices of new mail.  Oh well, must be computer glitches.

Mine would have been done today, but I have been procrastinating and reading on here instead of sewing!!!!  The "snore machine" kept me awake all night.  I got at total of about an hour of sleep somewhere between midnight and 1:30 then NOTHING.  Got up at 3:30 and finished taxes - not the best time to do them, but QUIET (as long as not in bedroom).  I got a really good nights sleep the night before thanks to help from Cranial-sacral therapy I had Wed.  I don't usually sleep much because of my fibromyalgia - 5 hours at best, but 1 hour????.  Heading to the machine now after I take pain meds for neck - too tired to hold it up right and it aches.  Hope he sleeps better tonight so I can. (but I probably won't even if it is quiet.)

Love everyone's finishes and hope mine will be there soon.
