About Me
I have been married 38 years. Have 2 wonderful sons and 1 very adorable grandson. I work for a major IT company, for whom I've been employed by for 31 years. I have been sewing since I was a teenager. My last ginormous project was making my wedding dress 38 years ago. I am slowly getting back into sewing and am trying to learn more about quilting. I have made 3 quilts, 2 of which were for my grandson. I have only taken 1 class, so I am a beginner and have much to learn. On our vacations, my husband and I try to stay at Bed and Breakfasts and our vacations are always to places that afford photo opportunities since my husband is a photographer.

I've been without network connectivity for a couple days because of where we were at.  We've spent an awesome 2 days in Monument Valley, AZ.  Check out my blog to get caught up on our pleasures and perils.  Lots of pictures.  http://www.oddsandinns.blogspot.com/  No quilt shop yet, hoping to find one in Flagstaff.

Dispatches From The Road - our trip through the Southwest

Posted on October 7, 2012 at 5:00pm 2 Comments

Hello everyone.  It has been a while since I last visited.  Been very busy with work, family and some sewing.  My husband and I are currently traveling the southwest with our furthermost destination The Grand Canyon and Monument Valley.  When we travel, we try to stay at some of the more unique accommodations along the way.  Check out my blog Odds and Inns for my daily posts.  I am hoping to run across some quilt shops along…

To start a quilting business

Posted on June 16, 2012 at 7:44pm 4 Comments

Ladies - I need your opinions, suggestions and honest feedback.  I am 57 and anticipating the possibility of retiring within the next 5 years.  I am toying with the idea of starting a business providing sewing and quilting services.  I need to understand what would provide the most profit. I would love to have my own quilt shop, but not sure that would be financially possible.  As I only have a sewing machine (Janome) and a Janome Embroidery machine, I currently don't have the tools to do…

They aren't very straight, but I am learning as I go.  My second pair is looking better.

Anita, I would love to be your quilty friend. I love the pic of your little cowboy grandson. My second grandson loves cowboy stuff! He has lots of guns, always wears the boots, things like that. He's 11, and has always been this way, not by example, just on his own.

Anita, I love your quilts especially the Texas one. Did you quilt it too? Pretty darn good for a beginner! What is this online quilt university? Can you send me the link? You may have done it somewhere but can't find it. Love your snow pictures!

Thanks, Anita. Small world. I have a niece and her family up in Frisco, too. It has a nice, quaint downtown area that I liked. Appreciate the link to online classes.  From one newbie to another: Happy quilting! See you around the boards.

Unfinished means blocks measure 9 1/2 " square when done and when they are pieced into a quilt will measure 9". The deadline is July 1, just in time for Fourth of July celebrations.
