Hi, and welcome!
I hope I explained the Adirondack bit well enough! It was quite a "fad" during the late 1800s to go to the mountains. The even had what they refered to as "sanitoriums" for those who suffered from tuberculosis. There's another mountain range in New York State called the Catskills. It was better known for it's Jewish resorts and camps and closer to New York City than the Adirondacks were. New York is also covered with lakes created after the Ice Age. When the glaciers receded a great many lakes were left behind. Some even worthy of Winter Olympics! LOL
And that was probably more info that you required! ; D

Welcome and good to see you here Barb, This is really a fun site, quite different, and as for me, easier then Quilting Arts. Probably because I have been on here longer.
Again welcome, hope you enjoy the wealth of information here. As you can see there are groups for just about everyone. You may be interested in the ATC and Love of Art Quilt groups.
Look forward to chatting with you.
