A Flying Whoa......

Posted on June 15, 2009 at 7:00am 1 Comment

I'm am such a clutter queen, but there comes a time when the piles of stuff just bring sewing to a flying whoa. I'm pretty much done with the sewing space, now down to the cutting and fabric storage space. UGH. If you don't hear from me in 24 hours, send in a search party (armed with shovels).

I have been so busy that I haven't been able to quilt much......and now that I can find time to get to the machine for awhile......I can't get to the… Continue

Honestly, now......

I don't know what is happening. I seem to not ever find time to do any quilting. I have been so busy......but I don't know at what! The desire is definitely there....but I can't seem to get into the sewing room.

I know one thing that has me stalling. I have to assemble the Handi-quilter II frame and have no idea how to begin. I don't know if it is one person job or if I need Rick to help me. I must get that done, though.

I traveled to visit my sister and BIL… Continue

Visiting the farm...

Posted on May 12, 2009 at 7:10am 3 Comments

Yesterday I went to visit my friend at her farm. It is a very special place for me. Both sets of grandparents had farms and I enjoyed all the time spent at each one. This is my only chance to "get in touch with my roots" on a regular basis and I treasure it.

Her (and her husband's) farm is on top of a mountain (I'm very mountain oriented, hehe). The view off of her huge back porch is splendiferous. It is a place where all cares and troubles can slip away and life is… Continue

Piling up.....

Posted on May 7, 2009 at 10:27am 0 Comments

OK, I now have 3 quilts ready to sandwich. I finally got the hodge-podge blocks my mom did umpteen years ago with sashing and borders and in the pile.

This is added to the long-waiting red, black and white quilt

and last, but certainly not least, poor little Joe's bug jar quilt. He might get it before he starts to school.…

Hi Becky, thank you for the kind welcome to this site. My husband and I are retired and moved up here from No. Virginia, in 2000. We live the small community of Lenox, which is between Bruceton Mills and Terra Alta. This is his home, born and raised until he got out of school. We really love it here and the small farm he was born on is the perfect place for us really.
I've been quilting and showing my quilts for a long time now. But lately I seem to have slowed down and I have the same quilt in the frame for about 13 months now. If you have ever been over to the Buckwheat Festival, I have had quilts in the show there for 9 years now. I have also had several quilts in the State House in Charleston, at the Vandalia Celebrtion. This was most exciting, since they only select 50 quilts for this show.
I really look forward to checking out all of what goes on here and since I'm a new computer user, someday, maybe, I will learn my way arund it.
If you're ever in this part of the country, stop by.

Hey Becky, we are fine. We did have a lot of rain, really heavy. Precious, my poodle was terrified but that is always the case. I didn't know Portland got hit hard. I talked to my grandaughter and she didn't mention anything. I am going up that way in just a few minutes to a bible study. I will ask the ladies there. Thanks for checking on me. God Bless, Linda
