Family Memory Quilt

Posted on March 19, 2012 at 12:14pm 8 Comments

I would like to make a memory quilt for our family reunion coming up August, 2013.  My father was one of 10   and my plan is to include pictures of all of them plus my grandma and grandpa.  I could sure use some help.  If anyone can share pictures, tips and advice, I would be very happy. I have never done this before, so I am excited but apprehensive at the same time.  Thanks so much, Darlene

I have a new email address. How do I get that information to Quilt With Us?

As I start my blog it is March 9th and we woke up to -35degrees C. Too cold for March, but we are a hardy bunch! And being house bound allows more time for quilting and that's a good thing. Also the sun is shining. I have spent the past year trying to finish up my UFO's. We had a challenge in our quilt guild to finish UFO's and it did give me a boost to work on them. I have finished several items but now I mostly have big quilts left to do. I love making tops but then am not so good at getting… Continue

Hi Darlene,

Quilto is like Bingo.  Participants buy their cards with fat quarters.  The organizers put the fat quarters in piles as prizes for the number of games played.  The cards have QUILTO instead of BINGO across the top and instead of numbers, the game has quilt block names, different tools and quilt techniques in each of the squares.  There is a caller just like in Bingo and we play the same sorts of games - one line, letter X etc.  The guild has a game and we play it at the Christmas party and on retreats etc.  The game must be available on-line or in quilt shops.  We use a big jar of buttons as the markers.  It's really fun!

Hi Darlene, I am a newbie at card making. There is a young gal that works next door to my shop and she was always giving me beautiful homemade cards. I got hooked. She has been giving a gal that works for me and myself some classes at her house. How long have you been making cards for? I could email or private message you some pictures on here. I know a while back there were some people that didn't like all the pictures that were not to do with quilting. I would love to see some of yours as well. Take care, Debbie

Darlene  received my parcel, thank you sooo much, it was lovely and scraps???? I thought I would get much smaller pieces, I was so excited with what I got.  I don't know if I told you that my DH has been in hospital since the 26th Nov. I have been busy going to the hospital everyday I didn't see your comments on my page until today. Sorry about that. He had kidney stones and was full of infection which spread to his heart and blood. The bacteria was strepococcus which is deadly, thankfully they caught it in time, it was already affecting his heart but should leave no lasting effects. I am starting to see an improvement now, he won't be discharged until the 25th of Dec. That will be our Christmas present I think.  I sure am glad it isn't -37 here, today was +3 and I thought it was chilly. I will get your monies in the mail asap. Many thanks again, it made my day going through your package.

I am not a real chatterbox either but you might think differently from my contributions to the quilt forum and my blog- it is lots of fun to blog - don't be afraid to ask for help- we all get stuck on one thing or another. Regards, Anna

Just google  blogger .com and there is a tutorial of how to set up a blog. There is no cost with blogger - not sure if the same is true for typepad and some of the other blog formats.

You also can have a blog on this quilt forum but I have a hard enough time maintaining my first blog.LOL I  started my blog  just after my husband started blogging- I wasn't very sure that I would like it or that I could do it but I have enjoyed the connections that I have made with quilters both near and far. Let me know if you get stuck and I would be happy to help you with it. On my blog there is a link to my email address that you can send a private message too if you would rather go that route. The other thing I did was begin by commenting on other people's blogs so that I could get to know what other people wrote. It helped me to make connections with bloggers around the globe.
