I love EPP of all kinds and all sizes. One of my friends introduced me to EPP about 5 years ago and since that time I have always had an EPP project close at hand. The first quilt top I made was the traditional grandma's flower garden pattern in the 1930's pastel shades. This one was done with the 2 1/2 inch hexes. I've recently started one with the 1/4 inch hexes (its the one with flowers in rows and the butterflies in between and is my own design). Unfortunately I don't actually like to quilt so have many finished tops and many UFOs!! I am also working on some of my own designs (the snowflake, the 2 christmas tree blocks, and the quilt I call "Blue Tiles" are other examples of my designs). I'm also very fond of using many different fabrics in my quilts and have been working on the charm Christmas quilt top for 4-5 years now.

"When Your Quilt Gives You Lemons" Follow-up

Posted on January 25, 2010 at 3:49am 3 Comments

Thank you so much to everyone that offered suggestions for my "running out of fabric" dilema. I am amazed as always at the generosity of quilters and really appreciate the offers of additional fabric! The quilt I miscalculated the borders on is on My Page and is titled "Oriental Flair." I have a close-up posted and its the black fabric with the big pink flowers that I needed one more cut on. I do think I've figured out how to make it work without any additional fabric. I had sewn the border… Continue

When Your Quilt Gives You Lemons, Can you Make Lemonade When the Fabric has Run Out?

Posted on January 22, 2010 at 6:05am 7 Comments

I am so frustrated with the UFO I was trying to finish - I cut all the borders (or so I thought) on Tuesday night and started piecing them together last night and low and behold I totally miscalculated the fabric, and now I'm short one cut. I had planned to make 8 inch borders all the way around, but that is certainly not going to work now. The unfortunate thing about taking FOREVER to finish anything is that I can't go and buy more fabric now! I may be able to cut the borders down some, but… Continue

Love the "Cheep Talk" Fabric!

Posted on January 20, 2010 at 3:57am 0 Comments

Received my Cheep Talk fabric order yesterday and I absolutely love it! The colors are much more vibrant in person. I can't wait to get the "Bird on a Wire" kit now - I may just have to start that one right away even though I'm really trying to stick with some of the UFOs I'm working on! Can't let go of everyone of my New Year's resolutions just yet!

CT's New Fabric Line "Cheep Talk" and My New Year's Resolution

Posted on January 8, 2010 at 5:26am 6 Comments

I got my new CT catalogue yesterday and I absolutely love the "Cheep Talk" fabric line! I've worked for an electric company for 27+ years. Having had to pay close attention to electric poles and wires in one of my first jobs out of college, I often noticed the "birds on the wire." Unfortunately, one of the New Year's resolutions I made was to not buy ANYMORE quilting, sewing, crafting, crocheting supplies! Foolish resolution I know, but I honestly could "shop at home" I have so much inventory.… Continue

22-Year Old UFO

Posted on January 7, 2010 at 4:05am 17 Comments

Since I had some time off from work over the holidays, I decided to do a little "spring cleaning" and attacked several of my closets. While going through one of the closets I found a quilt project that I started in 1987 (the blocks are still in their shipping box with the date on it!) and I wasn't even a quilter at the time. My passion used to be counted cross stitch and I started a 50-state counted cross stitch project back then with the idea that my mother would actually put the quilt… Continue
