Happy V Day

Posted on February 14, 2014 at 6:27am 6 Comments

Happy Valentines Day to all.

I don't know how to do all the fancy stuff that BJ does when she adds cards and things plus this morning is gym day and time is limited in the learning/searching center today. Just pretend you see a bunch of balloons and 15 dozen red roses...I'm…

What a Stinker....

Posted on February 13, 2014 at 8:20am 13 Comments

Oh BJ... What did you do?  I've been trying so hard to forget this birthday and here I see my face on QWU....you naughty girl. Anyway.... I had a great day all in all.   I started out at the gym trying to work off 20 years but alas it didn't work.  I walked out of the center with the same rolls and wrinkles that I had when I went in.  Then it was coffee at Starbucks with the gym rats and they proceeded to embarrass me further with a hat and some cameras.  Lesson learned?  Stay home on your…

Busy Few Days

Posted on January 22, 2014 at 6:38am 10 Comments

Wow, where has the time gone.  It's been a busy few days around here.  Not sure exactly why other than our SEAHAWKS are going to the Super Bowl.

Monday I worked on the second pass-a-round for our guild.  We are making journal pages in mixed media and have instructions to "s--t-r-e-t-c-h" ourselves in the design process.  We started by cutting 140 lb water color paper into 4" x 6" rectangles, added a journal with any instructions, and then passed it on.  What a mess...."stretch"…

Crazy, Crazier, or Craziest?

Posted on January 15, 2014 at 10:59am 8 Comments

What was I thinking?  Last October I signed up for 2 pass arounds at our local Quilt Guild.  The idea is to have a small, itty, bitty, teenzy, weenzy, "fun", thing to do once a month and then pass it on to the next sucker, I mean quilter.  One is Crazy Ladies (should have been a red flag) and the other is Artsy Ladies.  Below is this months Crazy Ladies.  To start, we had to cut out a bust, (noticed I said 'A', so it's not          "the…

Thank You Shannon!

I mentioned in a previous post that I erased all my Christmas photos.....Well, Shannon came to the rescue.  I found a site on line that let me down load a fix to unlock a formated card for a small fee. It was worth every penny. THANK YOU SHANNON.

Here is a Little Felt project I made for my new GS's nursery...Wool felt, Timtex and fusible web.  I found a bold font on my computer, printed one letter per page and the rest was just preschool cutting.  We put sticky velcro dots on the…

So Sorry to all the Quilters of the World

Posted on January 10, 2014 at 7:18am 17 Comments

What a busy holiday season.  I feel like I've been gone more than I've been home....oh wait, I have.  Since Thanksgiving I think I've counted 9 days/nights that I've actually been in my own bed.  I am so far behind on things around here.  I spent the better part of yesterday wiping down counters, cupboards and doing the floors.  Then I ran down and picked up my serger... well I didn't really run, I drove. I had it serviced and also had the tech put on new blades and since my light was out,…

Posting for Pam...

Here's a photo of our Christmas.... damn,  darn, there aren't any Christmas photos..., I accidently erased all my pictures from my camera.  I've been in a funk today over it. Been so mad at myself I cant seem to concentrate on anything. Really?  Luke's first Christmas? and I had to pull a stunt like that?    My camera is kind of new to me and I touched the format button my mistake and poof, they went to that big black cloud somewhere out…

Came home from our son's house the day after Christmas and woke up to this the following morning.  Burr.... Everything is frozen.  We don't have a blade of grass or a leaf anywhere that doesn't have this frozen stuff on it.  I think our high yesterday was 27 degrees and it stayed gray and cloudy all day.  Wish i could say I spent the day in my sewing room but alas, I didn't.…

I'm Done

Posted on December 22, 2013 at 6:39am 9 Comments

Yes, I'm done, or should I say I'm Done In?   Between my serger and sewing machine I think I had smoke rolling out of my sewing room. Plus my bum is sore from sitting so much.  I was bound and determined to get some things done for gifts this year and of course the rule says you have to put them off until the week before Christmas. Right?  Haven't you heard of that rule too?  Hubby would  call me from his cell phone to my cell phone, from the family room mind you, just to make sure I was…

My Almost Dutch pattern...

Posted on December 19, 2013 at 8:18am 9 Comments

Here's the photo of what turned out to me my Almost Dutch Hat.  Sharon, I took your advise on the google translate BUT, when I clicked on the PDF pattern, it was in Dutch and I wasn't able to get it translated. You can't copy/paste from a PDF that I know of.  Anyway,   I was so determined to get this darn hat made that I spent the better part of a day using the "trial and error" system and finally came up with this little guy.  This is hat number 6. It looked so easy?  I didn't realize that…

Hi Debbie, How are things going in your life.  I hope all is well with you, your business, family members and life in general.  I miss the old gang on QWU.  Bud and I moved to a retirement complex July of 2015.  He was only here a couple of months when he had to go back to the nursing home.  He came back and was put in an Assisted Living home but is now back in the nursing home.

I love my apartment.  It's a two bedroom so I took the larger room for my sewing room.  Haven't taken any pictures yet.  Still haven't made my kitchen curtains.  When I get those done I will be posting pictures.  With Bud moving back and forth and me having to move his stuff and sewing for the public and attending a lot of events that take place here in the complex I keep very busy. I love living alone.  I eat when I feel like it, not when the clock says it's time.  And I have a better social life with friends.  And the apartment stays clean so I have lots of time to enjoy doing what I want to.  Sounds selfish, but I have spent many years taking care of people and I'm enjoying being selfish now.  I do cook and take meals to my sister who is not doing so well.  But she is still getting out to shop and pay her bills.  Things don't look good with her, so we just take one day at a time.  And cherish our time together.  Take Care.

Really glad to hear your doing so well with your health. Last year this time, I was in the hospital with my left leg plugged with blood clots. The leg still bothers me if I sit too long but I'm grateful to be feeling a lot better this year.  Bud had two strokes in January and has been in the nursing home.  He will be coming back to Calais in a month to go into assisted living.  He can't do stairs and  we have stairs coming into the house and the bathroom and bedrooms are on the second floor.  Congratulations on the new baby girl.  My first grandchild was a girl and I was over joyed.  I had two boys.

It doesn't seem to want to warm up around here.  We had a few days of warm weather but lately it's been quite cool.  I took my sister to Bangor today to have a chemo treatment and we drove all the way over there in dense fog.  It's a two hour trip one way.  She had a breast off a few months ago but she still has cancer in her lung that doesn't seem to be growing.  The spot on her breast didn't grow for about two years but took off like a wild fire all of a sudden and they had to take it off. Luckily it didn't spread to her lymph nodes.

So glad to hear from you and know your well and enjoying life.

Hi Debby I have been wondering how you are.  I have been off line a lot as this computer is always acting up so have probably missed some posts.  I hope your well, and keeping busy. ~ Irene

Wonderful to hear from you, Debbie; thanks for responding to my message.  Glad to hear your cancer scare was just that--a scare.

You sure have been busy and continue to be busy as you visit your parents.  70th anniversary---WOW!!!  Enjoy your time with them.

I'm still an avid quilter; if I didn't have that, I would be very bored.  Belong to a monthly group; we each do our own thing.  I belong to a weekly group that makes quilts  for charity; we have 65 quilt tops ready for layering and tying.  Each spring we make a quilt for the local fire dept which they raffle off for a fund raiser.  Otherwise I make quilts for myself and family and small gifts for friends.  Next week I'm going to quilt camp Wed till Sunday.

For last 2 months our DD has kept us very busy.  Dec 8 she had hysterectomy and then 2 weeks ago she had another major surgery.  It's a long story so will just condense it.  She had a neuroendocrine cancer removed.  Likely had been there for a long time and is slow growing.  Treatment is surgery; no chemo nor radiation.  Just labs, scans, and doctor followup for 10 years.  She likely will never have a reoccurrence and if she does, surgery again.  God is good!  He does answer prayer.

Congratulations on becoming a grandma.  Isn't it fun?  Ours are 15 and 13.  They keep life lively with all their sports events.  Keeps us young and gives us something to do.

We've had a reasonably mild winter.  Our real cold weather has been in short spurts and we have had little snow.  In fact we could use more snow; haven't even had enough to ride snowmobile so there they sit collecting dust instead of snow.  Last winter was a "beast" for cold and snow.

Wish you continued good health and happiness.  God bless.

Debbie, is all OK with you?  Haven't heard from you for way too long.  Hope your health problems are under control.  Miss your sense of humor and positive attitude even in times of trouble.  God bless!

Hello Debbie, how have you been?  I hope all is well with your health.  We are getting the tail end of "Arthur"  Pouring with high winds. Suppose to move through by 4 p,m.  I'm working on a sewing machine cover today. It's for myself so I'm winging it. Not sure what I will come up with for design but having fun anyway.  I like having my machines covered when not in use.  Keeps the dust off and it dresses up my sewing room a bit.  I hope your enjoying the Summer

Happy Birthday, Debbie!

Thank you Debbie for browsing my pictures.  That's what makes this site fun and interesting.  I get motivated looking at projects that other people have made.  I just came from The sewing club. Today was a UFO day where we all worked on something different. I took a table runner that I started before Christmas to work on.  I will post a picture of that when I get it done.

Hi Debbie.  Just wanted to let you know that the patterns arrived safely today.  Thanks so much for doing this.  I will bring them to the guild meeting on Tuesday and hand them out along with your business cards.  I hope that some of the ladies visit your website & buy more of your lovely patterns.  Big hugs to you.
