About Me
Started quilt class 06/2007 and have completed the class project and two quilts I gave as gifts last Christmas. I proudly mention those three first because I also have about 9 quilts in all stages of progress. I prefer to think of myself as a genius at starting new projects!
My reason for learning to quilt was the Seven Sisters Star pattern. I began making one (by hand) in July 2007, before I knew the term EPP. I used freezer paper after my paper kept coming loose. Couldn't stick to plan as how to finish it so it is still waiting for me.
I get really energetic about beginning a new project. So much so that, several family members know I have a quilt in progress for them yet no longer ask me how theirs is coming along since I seem to start a new one and put theirs on the shelf. :O
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, hand quilting, machine quilting
My pets are awesome!
Mouzer - was a skinny stray black cat, now he's our 16lb son

Airline rules about sharp Quilt supplies

Posted on October 4, 2011 at 3:47pm 8 Comments

I'm flying Thursday and wanted to know about a carry-on bag with my hand quilting supplies (sharp tools like seam ripper, scissors, pins). I love my scissors and do not want to lose them but do not plan to check any luggage.

Please tell me about recent flights with this situation.

Good morning friends!

Hope you all enjoy this clip from an Oprah network show called Enough Already. I am not in this woman's position regarding fabric stash but could relate so closely that I feel most of us has felt what she feels about hanging on to 'good fabric'…

Tied Quilt -vs- Airline Fees

Posted on August 13, 2010 at 6:12am 9 Comments

I just saw NBC morning news report about excessive airline carry on bag fees and felt like I had been punched in the gut!

A man said he was 'not going to be taken' by the airlines charging him an extra $60 when his ticket was only $140. So he emptied his carry on bag and threw away books and toiletries. No big deal right?

He then threw away a pastel tied quilt.

Watching him shove it down the garbage can hole took the air out me and my son. Even my son knows to…

Project Monotony = Project Killer

Got so bored making hexagons with the same fabric for my Grandmother's Flower Garden. I decided to pull from the stash I aquired a few months ago. I love calico fabric. As long as the scraps were large enough to cut six squares from it, it was a good thing! Feels so fresh. The monotony is what kills my projects mid-way everytime. Back to paper piecing 'new' hexagons!

Oblivious heirs = my good fortune

Posted on October 18, 2009 at 8:56am 13 Comments

I went to my first estate sale Friday by suggestion of an antique collecting BIL. Not sure of what to expect or how to make deals, I think I did very well. I came across two 22 gallon storage containers overstuffed with fabric! The story from the young (and oblivious) man and woman was that their mother had kept her mothers' projects and fabrics stored for decades. Their grandmother passed in '69, so all of these items were from the 1930-60s. ( I found her newpaper templates that are dated and… Continue

I have heard of it being so big just through the comments , and  I would love to go but we travel through Houston about mid november , thats the plans so far and it looks like I will miss it  :(

But there are others in the area I have heard of to go and see, not as large but still nice to see the lovely creations.  Your quite a ways from where I will be if the maps are anything to go by.

But it is nice to know where abouts you are and to say I passed your place lol.

When is your travel date ?        catch you later     N

sorry I guess I had run out of space. How are you doing? How is your EPP coming along? We must have thought of each other about the same time because I was going to write you when the computer wanted to rest and cost me money. Spring has been beautiful here. My spring bulbs where so pretty and really last a long time. Take care and will write again soon.

Hi Evelyn, Thanks for the note. My computer has been down for over a week and boy did I miss it. I usually sit in the evening and watch TV and use the computer. I have been doing ok health wise. I still have some problems and may need more surgery. I think once you have one surgery it seems to lead to another. I finished doing a beach bag [EPP] in the Cheep Ta;l. It is cute idea. Now I am making a baby quilt for my great great nephew due in July. I got my computer back today and dam if my sewing machine had decided to act up. wwor
