Have a wonderful Christmas especially having your son with you, it's always special when our children are with us, no matter what age they are. Hope you have reasonable weather too, keep safe. Peace, joy and good health for 2017.
Hi, just noticed u on line, how r u
Hi there, how r u hope things are settling down a little in paris, how shocking things have been. Did u have a good christmas with your son when he visited with the family. All quite here now after a very busy christmas, family with me this year so 16 around the dinner tabel. Take care marianne
Good morning Geneevieve,
Although nothing very good about it today. I thought of you immediately i heard the news, how pleased i was to hear non of your family were in Paris and escaped the horror. What a terrible thing to have happened, just as thechristmas festivities are getting underway. I really dont have an answer, but they must be stopped at all costs.
Stay safe, regards, marianne
J'aime tes photos broderie..
Genevieve, thanks so much for the referral to the boutis website. I enjoy seeing a traditional technique surviving in a new century with a modern twist instead of dying out. The designs are amazing! Now that I understand a bit about the method, I will watch the videos even though they are in French.
One question before I start (hopefully this week) - Do you basically use a 100% cotton yarn for stuffing? That is the best I can tell we have available here in the U.S. If not, is there something I could order that works better? Where?
Thanks!
Prairie Quilter, a member of one of your QWU groups, mentioned I should check out your QWU page to see your boutis work. I wrote a QWU blog today on a book about Boutis I reviewed for CT (I am on staff as a quilt designer)... click here to see it.
Your boutis quilts are amazing! The effect of the raised designs is so beautiful! They must have taken a long time since I've read that the method is time intensive.
The Art of Boutis is very inspiring and fortunately offers several small projects. It does not clear enough instructions for the "stuffing". I found out from other online blogs it works to use %100 cotton yarn available here in the U.S. For larger areas I found some %100 cotton roving on Etsy.com (used for spinning so can be drawn out into long strands) but it is off-white compared to the yarn (see picture in my blog posting). I guess I could use off-white yarn and have a subtle hint of that color show through the batiste. Have you tried roving?
Anyway, your work is lovely. I will let you know when (if?) I get my project finished. Thanks for posting your work...quite impressive!
Are you doing these quilts by hand or do you have a longarm machine? Awesome quilts.. pat skinner
Thank you for the Wishes Genevieve
I been away so not been on QWU
Wishing you a Happy New Year
I am not too bad thank you
Hugs Janice
