About Me
I am new to quilting, but love all things involving a needle and thread, fibers, etc. You get the picture. I was born on the 4th of July so I tend to be attracted to patriotic decor & my new fabric stash has a lot of star fabrics of all colors. The 3 quilt tops I have done or have in progress are bright and not patriotic.

Almost the end of October

The weather has improved. We've had some lovely fall days. Finished a quilt top. Got a new grandson. Got over a sinus infection. Life is good.

Now, to decide what to start next. I already have train fabrics for a baby quilt, so I'm thinking that should take priority over anything else. Got to keep the little guy warm this winter.

Then my sister and I want to do tessellating stars for our first "work on it together - but long distance" quilt projects. Sounds fun. Also… Continue

The last day of September and snow!!

I know I live in Southeastern Idaho, but the weather changed last night. And I do mean changed. It snowed, rained, blowed, snowed, slushed, rained. Yes, I know the term "blowed" isn't proper grammar in this case, but it rhymed. It has finally calmed down outside. I even used an umbrella today. The Indian Summer weather isn't forecasted to return any time soon. Hope I can tolerate this winter. Maybe that just means I need to get my studio in order and lock myself in!?! Yes, that sounds like a… Continue

New here and fairly new to quilting!

Posted on September 23, 2009 at 11:45pm 8 Comments

My two dear sisters have tried for years to convince me to start quilting. I balked and drug my feet. I didn't understand the need to cut beautiful fabrics into little pieces just to sew them back together. And the exactness and accuracy required seemed daunting. I have always loved to look at quilts, no matter the style or the maker. Some are truly astounding. But still I didn't understand the joy and fun that quilters everywhere tried to convince me they were having.

Then a good… Continue

I agree with you that the quilt blog is somewhat addictive. There are some really nice and extremely talented quilters on here. I'm usually always in awe of some project or another that someone has posted. My quilts are fairly traditional and simple. I'm trying to get the hang of needleturn applique. I haven't been as productive quilting this year as in some years past, but hope to get back in the swing of things soon.

The good thing about fall snow is that it usually tends to melt rather quickly and we can always use the moisture.

Happy quilting! PQ

Grace I would be happy to be your friend. I shop Connecting Threads, Nancy's Notion and Keepsake Quilting mainly and then I have some local shops I shop from on line. I don't know how much quilting knowledge I have but I do enjoy quilting and have done a little bit of it. I mainly do small items that I can easily complete on my sewing machine.
