Connecticut shootings

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 11:14am 15 Comments

OMG....I just saw on tv that there was a shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut and 27 people are now dead.  18 of them are children from 6 yrs. old.  What kind of freak shoots 18 babies?  Those poor children in that school have to live with this trauma for the rest of their lives.  Please offer up prayer for those who have died and for their families left behind...also for the rest of those children who saw it all.  Oh my heart breaks at the cruelty in our world.

Here's for Pam.....

I had a great day yesterday, albeit an exhausting one!  A few friends and I went on a bus trip to Philadelphia to the Quilt Show.  We had several hours to view the quilts and shop!!!!  I was a bit disappointed in the show this year...very few "traditional" quilts, but loads of art quilts.  Not that they aren't beautiful, but traditional is more to my taste.  There weren't loads of quilts entered for judging...lots and lots for…

Jennie, a quick hello to you before this site is gone. As of May 15 Connecting Threads is shutting down QWU and is only going to be on face book. Bummers! Through this site I have made so many friends, met people I would not have otherwise. It makes me so sad to see it close. They have a statement on the main page.

How are you doing through all this craziness? Have you been quilting? My son has my she shed just about finished. Inside is far enough along that I can begin using it. Slowly getting things sorted and finding homes. Tossing some as well.

My grandson is in school 4 days now, albeit half days. He's only 3 but autistic so goes to a special needs school. He loves it. Gives me a few hours each day where I can get some projects worked on. He likes to "help" grandma a bit too much. Such a happy, active little guy.

So good to hear from you Jennie. Glad you made it to Florida safely. Hopefully they will get this pandemic under control. Our area has not had very many cases at all. We are a bit more isolated.

My quilting shed is very close to being ready but is on hold for a bit. We have had a few curves thrown at us but it will get finished. Have not had much time to sew.

My grandson is autistic so takes a bit more interaction. He is nonverbal right now but beginning to say a few words. My son messed up his shoulder which limits him doing things. My daughter has had health problems her entire life. Her white blood count has been elevated for a while now.  She has leucocytosis which they say may be leukemia. She starts treatments at the cancer center in Jan. We take it one day at a time.

We are ready for Christmas, can't wait to watch grandson open his packages this year. He is such a happy, funny little guy.

Take care. Hugs to you.

Hi Jenni, so good to hear from you. Glad you guys are safe and well. From what I've heard on the news you are in a good place during this crazy time. I am doing fine throughout the stay at home orders. Actually, not much has been different as I am a "home body" and rarely venture out. Having lived so far away from towns/cities for most of my life, what most people are having to adjust to has been my normal forever.

I too have Frolic in the process. All my steps are done, now to assemble the blocks. I had a "senior" moment and now have to sort my pieces to get them matched up with their four patch units. My brain wasn't ready for anything complicated. Since losing Jerry I have been in a fog and just couldn't make sense of the instructions. After seeing the reveal everything makes sense. I will get it finished soon.

My kids and grandson are still with me. Daughter has chickens and ducks so we will have eggs in a couple months. We bought fencing material yesterday so part ofmy property will be fenced in. Grandson, the dogs and feathered critters will have a safe place.  My guys are building me a "she shed" for quilting. It's 12x16 so will be a good size to fit most everything. They already put up a small shed for my tubs of fabric and supplies.  We have plenty of projects to keep us busy!

Take care, safe travels back to NY. Hopefully we are through the worst of this and can get back to a new normal.

Hi Jennie, wow I was just thinking about you this past week. So good to get your note.

The past two years for you as well. My hubby has had a very rough go of it. Retirement had not been anything like we planned. Will send you a private message to catch you up later.

Seems a lot of the "regulars" are not active as they used to be. The gals that are here have been a lifeline for me. Again, more on that later.

Take care and have a great week.

Thanks for your comment, Jennie. I hope your family members are feeling better. I have to admit that it was pretty devastating to host a party and not have people show up. Merry Christmas.

Jennie, I just read your comments on my last blog. Thank you so much for your kind words and I am so glad my blog renewed your faith.  I lost my job in 2001 and dh lost his in 2010,  we got through it!!  The day he came in and said his company filed bankruptcy, I said, come over here, he sat down, we prayed, put it in God's hands, (this was on a Thursday).  He was inspired the next day to go to a company in our town to apply for a job, they hired him and he is still working for them.  He is only 4 miles from home.  I could write a book about all that happened after that but God never left our side.  A lot of it is written in my blogs.  He lost his job the end of October and I fell down the stairs the 19th of Dec that same year and had to have 2 surgeries, no ins either.  God worked all that out too, all I can say is just trust!!!   He will take care of all of it.  I will pray for you guys,  thank you Jennie!!!! God Bless you and give you favor!!!!

Jennie my prayers have been answered.  I was so worried about you on the island and am happy to see that you have posted.  I pray that you and all the others in your area remain safe.
