My Website (not your email address)
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, paper piecing, hand quilting, knitting, gardening, general crafts
My pets are awesome!
I have a dog named Blanche, a pygmy goat, Houdini, an African Gray Parrolt, Koko, and five cockatiels, one of which is learning to whistle Row, Row, Row your boat And now, Elinore, the Lionhead bunny.

In the Beginning...

I started sewing on my Gramma Mason's Singer treadle machine when I was around eight.  She had a great sewing room on the east side of her house that was full of east windows.  The sun lit up that room in the early morning like no other!  She had tables full of African violets setting in front of those windows.  When you looked out  you looked out onto her flower gardens and vegetable garden.   I think that room and my gramma are the reasons why I love to quilt/sew and have a whole front yard full of gardens and flowers!

Hi Karla, I would love to be your friend! I looked at your quilts, I love the basket weave in blues and browns. Two of my favorite things, basket weave and my favorite color combination!

Karla, I can't take credit for the quilting as I use robotics too.  Yesterday I decided to try my hand at free motion and it still sucks so back goes the robotics on the machine.  Just put a new quilt top onto the frame yesterday but scared to start quilting it as its been quilt a few months since I quilted last.  Just wasn't in the mood most all winter which is usually the time to get our quilting done since we can't venture outdoors much.

Anyway, just wanted to say I did pick up the Pineapple Salsa pattern, thanks for letting me know the name of it and I also have the latte embroidery designs but have never bothered to do anything with them.

Take care.

Good Morning Karla,  I know what your saying about cockatiels. They are so much fun. I use to say to Lindy, "kiss belly" and he would stretch up so I could kiss his belly.  Pedro my Maroon Belly Conure used to sit on my glasses and look at himself in the reflection.  They all have their own special traits.  My Amazon don't know he can fly so walks around the house, getting into everything. I have to shut the door into the sewing room as he chews on everything. He climbs up the stairs but can't get onto the landing so he sits up there talking and laughing until we go get him.  He is over in his cage now saying "hi, what ya doin" and then laughing.  The sun is shining so he is wound up this morning. lol

Thank you for inviting me to be your friend.  I see your a bird lover also.  I had 6 birds at one time.  Two cockatiels, two conures, ( Mitred and a Maroon Belly) an Indian Ringneck parakeet and my Yellow Naped Amazon.  They have all died except the Amazon.  He is 21 years old.  Most of them were rescue's.  I also have a four year old spoiled dog.  Also a rescue.

Thanks for the warm welcome at my blog; I specifically will reply over there.

Houdini is the perfect name for a pygmy goat, which I've always wanted, but for now three chihuahuas will have to do!

Thank you for your kind words Karla. I love your dresden plate projects. I have a dresden plate quilt that I just recently finished. I will be posting it soon - as soon as I can figure out how to do it again, its been awhile.

Thanks Karla, you just really need to pay attention when cutting and stacking pieces so you keep them in order. I have also made  a Christmas tree skirt using that ruler. I would like to find more things to make using that ruler since its a little pricey. Have a great day.

End of an Era

Posted on April 27, 2014 at 8:59am 16 Comments

As you know if you've read my blogs, I am an animal lover.  This weekend marks the end of an era in my life.  I used to raise pure bred chocolate labs - loved the puppies, but got to the point that I couldn't bare to sell them for fear they would be mistreated.  I kept a pup out of the last litter and named him Doc Edward's Hot Chocolate, Doc for short.  He was a big (150#) loveable guy that loved to fetch and was deathly afraid of thunder.  His mom had to be put down just about a month ago…

Important Things In Life

Seems like the only time that I wite a blog is on Saturday!  The weeks seem to fly by me and before I know it, it's Saturday again!

This is a special Saturday for me.  It is the annual Planning Weekend for a group of high school friends and I.  Every year for the past 12 years we have taken a long weekend trip together.  This is the weekend that we decide where our trip will take us this year.  There are 4 of us now.  When we started doing this all of those years ago there were 5 of…

It's gonna be another cold. windy Saturday here in central Iowa!  We've had a couple of nicer days - just enough to tease us and make the spring fever even worse!  I'm coming down with a sinus infection, so I was going to be inside anyway today, but I've got plenty of projects to keep me busy!  My youngest daughter is getting married in June and "we" decided that "we" could make all of the flowers for the wedding.  Her colors are bright orange, fuscia and blue.  We were at Michael's last…

My Little Sewing Room

Posted on March 20, 2014 at 6:33am 15 Comments

About five years ago I took the leap and made the small extra bedroom into my sewing room.  This is the first time I've ever been able to have all of my craft stuff, fabric, yarn, beads and misc. junk all gathered into one place!  I love it!  The only problem is storage.  The fabric is threatening to take over the room!  I've got so many scraps - tubs full.  I guess that's a good excuse to make more scrap quilts, isn't it!?
