Will Winter Ever End?

Posted on March 29, 2009 at 2:42pm 0 Comments

It is still cold here in Wisconsin even though the sun is shining. One sure sign that winter is near the end is we finished our curling season today. My husband and I curl (and try to remain upright on the ice). This weekend was our end-of-the-year bonspiel (tournament). We curled on Wed., Fri., Sat., and today. Last night was also the cocktail party, dinner, and dancing. We made it to the final four, but this sure cut into my quilting time. I have been trying so hard to finish some UFO's. I… Continue

Hawaii

Posted on February 18, 2009 at 11:45pm 2 Comments

Here I am in Kauai and I am still thinking of quilting. As I was perusing one of the tourist magazines they have here in Hawaii, I noticed an ad for a shop thar sells Hawaiian print fabrics. My first thought was what a cute table runner I could make out of Hawaiian prints, and what a terrific souvenir that would be. I quickly emailed my friend Linda for some fabric amlounts for a couple of patterns from Let's Do Lunch. I'm hoping we will find some down time from the beach to run into town and… Continue

Warm Weather, Here I Come!

Posted on February 10, 2009 at 6:11pm 3 Comments

Early tomorrow morning my husband and I and 3 other couples are leaving for Hawaii. It'll be great to leave icy northern Wisconsin for warm weather. No quilting for a while. Hopefully I'll have a chance to catch up on some reading on the beach. My friend Linda and I have almost finished The Very Hungry Caterpillar quilts. They have been a fun project and great for children who love the book by Eric Carle. Our next project is going to the Underground Railroad quilt. It sure is nice to have Linda… Continue

My Runner is Done!

I completed my table runner from Let's Do Lunch last night. What a fun project! Out with the snowman runner on my table and on with the new runner. Looking forward to my next project,

Back In Wisconsin

Posted on February 2, 2009 at 4:34pm 1 Comment

I am back in Wisconsin after 2 weeks in Seattle. Our new granddaughter waited until the day before I had to leave to arrive, but she made it (9 days late!). Her name is Maya Rae and she is healthy and adorable. I was able to hold her and spoil her a litle before I left. Now that I am home, I can work on completing my table runner and start some other projects I have accumulated. My friend Linda and I are each making a Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt.

Thank you so much - I'm having a great time with my baby. He's starting to giggle and getting quite a personality. I'm also starting to quilt again. I will probably do another quilt a long shortly - there are several going on right now if you go to the main page and on the upper left it says groups. If you view all there are several groups to choose from and more being added. I'm so glad you are having fun and enjoyed the Let's Do Lunch group. I had fun as well!

Hi Kathy good to hear from you. I think the quilter machine is getting easier and I keep telling myself to think marbles, marbles.....for the curvy round like loops you do with the machine. It takes me quite a while to get a quilt onto the frame, goes much faster if I have my husband help me, but once its on and you get going its fun.....loop, loop loop....hehe Sounds like you found the quilt shop I was thinking of. Wasn't it in a kinda house right off the main road running around the island. I remember walking in and the hawaiian fabrics were oh so yummy. Theres something about being in Hawaii that makes one love the prints. It must be Hawaii mode. :) We were in Waikiki on year and I ran into a hawaiian lady that was sitting in a rocking chair in the marketplace sewing, her work was beautiful. We struck up a conversation and I found out she teaches hawaiian quilting and takes orders to sell her work too. I ordered a small wall hanging and paid 1/2 down and 1/2 when she finished and mailed it. It's in cream and midnight blues. It's my special hawaiian treasure and hanging in my sewing room. Everytime I look at it I remember the wonderful vacation. Well, anyway glad you had a good time. Did you visit all the regular places Kaui has to offer? Did you take a boat trip around to the Napali Coastline. It's wonderful and the dolphins love following the boats.
Hows your weather right now? Still icy? Today here in Oregon, it is overcast and grey out, kinda rainy off and on. This weekend Fri-Sun. we are forecast for spring weather with lots of sunshine and warmer. Man I can hardly wait, I am so ready for summer and I bet you guys are too. Well.....gotta run as I have hair coloring in my hair and its time to rinse it out....hate the grey!!!!! :) Hope you day is a great one.

Go Packers.....My fav team. Seahawks second. I just saw your photos and the football quilts. My niece used to be assit dean of students at St.Norbis(spelling) and sent me a cheese head from Greenbay. It comes out every fall and goes on top of the TV. Makes Bruce mad but oh well. Love your photos

Kathy: You sound busy too. Curling? Three days a week? Wow! I am impressed. I love sports, football the most but have watched curling on TV when available. I know that I would be that sliding object as I would end up on my bum if I had to walk on ice. I could sweep as I do it here everyday but not on ice. I've tried to ice skate with my son and we just ended up laughing so hard we couldn't skate and almost peed out pants. In a nutshell, "keep me off the ice".
This spring the International Quilt Market is in Pittsburgh PA. In the fall it's always in Houston. PA is for wholesalers only and Houston is wholesalers for 3 days and reatail sales the last 3 days. Hopefully I will be able to do Houston too. It's the Big Show.

How is Maya? and Anne too? Has older sister adapted? I remember how worried we were with our first accepting the new baby. We read books and did some pretty crazy things but all worked out well.

The wedding was wonderful. I guess I could put one of me on my site. Not too fond of being on that side of the camera and try to avoid it whenever I can.
Have you finished Barbara's book? I liked it and look forward to her second one. The sequel is coming in November. Well, have a great week..... It was sure nice hearing from you. I best go finish dinner so the hubby stays happy.

Kathy: How was Hawaii? I know you've probably been home for a while and I'm sorry I didn't ask sooner. Were you able to have some quality time with your two little cuties in Seattle?

Kathy: I see you ordered Barbara book. It's a good read. I haven't had much reading time and am only about 3/4 done but have thoroughly enjoyed it. Did I read somewhere that you are in Hawaii? Hope you have/had nice weather. The kids are honeymooning there and rain is expected each day.....but as I told them last night, it's better than the rain and snow. How's your daughter doing with Maya? Is Anna still liking being a big sister? The flower girl was a Maya, from Boise ID. Have a great week.

Congratulations on your new Grandaughter! She looks like her big sister. I have 10 grandchildren and #8 was a girl!. Exciting times. You have completed some very beautiful quilts. I especially like the sport team ones. Was that a pattern?
