About Me
I took up quilting in 2005 after my quilting sisters nagged me for years. Found myself with extra time on my hands and thought I'd give it a try. Been hooked ever since. I work as an editor for our local newspaper, but have cut back considerably on the hours I spend there - too many fabrics, too many quilts to make to be too gainfully employed!
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, hand quilting, gardening
My pets are awesome!
A 4 year old tabby named Sassafras - Sassy for short - whose picture is my icon.

Color catchers

Posted on December 26, 2011 at 7:00am 17 Comments

Well, now that Christmas is over, I come bringing bad tidings.

I'll be stocking up on Color Catchers. My sister knows someone who works at SC Johnson in Racine which makes them and told me this morning that she learned that sales are not what they expected, so they will be taking them off the market soon. She suggests that everyone write or call the Customer Service number or e-mail on the package and tell them how much you like and use them. And, of course, stock up!

Since we…

Can anyone tell me why so many names now have /STATE after them? Have they always been like that and I've just been oblivious, or is it something that has just changed on the Web site?

Thanks Kit for your comment about my Hummingbird's Trumpet quilt.  Since it was not hand quilted, I had only placed it on my blog.

Hi Kit!  Hopefully you don't think I'm abandoning the quilt frame for "the dark side."  :)  I just know I can't hand quilt all my tops and I want to be able to finish my own quilts - even the ones that don't need hand quilting.  I'm glad to hear of your experience with the Avante.  It takes me forever to make a decision, so for now I'm just doing some research.  The cost factor is huge.  Thanks for weighing in!

Hi Kit, That's so funny. I can't wait to tell my buddies what our road trips really are, they'll get a big kick out of it. Well ,....The Flying Needle in Stephenville is the closest, Quilters Patch in Santa Anna, Houston Street Mercantile in Granbury, and I Love Cabbage Rose in Ft Worth. We go to Weatherford often,to Quazy Quilts (doing a BOM there right now) and Peachtree Quilts. There's a good one in Clyde called Feathered Star, we've taken a Lone Star class there and she's always ready to share tips tricks and new things. One of my friends is going to the one in Celeste this next week. I've heard it's wonderful. How about your favs---we're always looking for new places to explore.

Yes, I'm lurking on your page getting my quilt show fix for the morning.  Love your quilts and it had been awhile since I'd visited your page.

Hi Kit,

Yep, I changed my picture - the smirk just wasn't doing it for me anymore.  :)  I mainly do a lot of kidding around on here - love to laugh - and I'm not always sure my sense of humor comes across.  Thought maybe a smiling photo would help convey that.   I just really dislike pictures of myself - unlike kids of today who can't seem to stop photographing themselves and posting all over facebook.  I'd like to imagine I'm a raving beauty and somehow pictures seem to burst that bubble all over the place!  My cousin used to laugh at herself and say "When the Good Lord was passing out looks, I thought he said books and I told him, Lord, I don't need any of those."

Have a great day!

Thank you, Kit.  It would be a 12" block. That's the size that I like to make and since I have made so many quilts using 12" blocks, I know just how many I need to make it the size I want. I'll make a note of this and keep it with my patterns along with a picture of your quilt. Again, Thank You!

Kit, Thanks so much for the quick response and your points about putting it together.  I have done some paper piecing but this is a little more complicated.  Maybe I will trying laying out a test run. :-)  Thanks again.
