About Me
I have been sewing most of my life. My grandmother was a milliner and my mother could copy anything my sister and I wanted from fashion magazines, so it must be genetic.
I have been quilting for about five years and bought a Gammill longarm machine about four years ago. I now quilt for others (had to to pay for the machine) and love it.
I don't like to use patterns for piecing, but make up my own.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, machine quilting, general sewing
My pets are awesome!
Daisy, the pound dog, and Rhoda, a Lhasa Apso.

Charity Quilt Ideas

I am working to get a bee going here that will help a group of quilting buddies get more charity work done. None of us have any problem making quilts for any new addition to our families, weddings, graduations or any other event, but the charity projects just don't seem to have the same urgency.

With the economy in a downturn, I am even more thankful for a warm home and healthy family. Charities suffer in this kind of economy and I would like to do what I can to help on a local… Continue

It's a gorgeous quilt (the stained glass one). I see on your profile you don't like to work from patterns but create your own. This is my hang up. I pretty much only work from patterns. I feel limited when I try to design. I get stuck . . . grr :)
So since I'm in FL and your In another state, any tips on how you did this quilt? You publishing or sharing the pattern?
I love it!!!!!
MK :)

Hi Malinda,
Thanks for sharing your quilt pictures. They are beautiful!
I just attended our local quilt show a few weekends ago. I could tell that the economy is taking its toll at this show as I didn't see many people purchasing, just a lot of looking. I have thought about becoming a member of our Pajaro Valley Quilt Guild, but their meetings seem to conflict with another womens charity that I belong to. Too many choices and so little time.

I am just about finished with another quilt that I am making for one of my sons...I will post a photo when it is finished after it returns from my long arm quilter. In the meantime, I am learning how to embroider with my new machine. It is so much fun. I am taking a series of classes to learn new techniques. Keep in touch and keep posting pictures. Kelly

Hmmm...the digging trenches I could probably do, but there's no way I could drive myself to the ER with third degree burns. You win with that one! LOL...

They go to the local nursing homes, abused women's shelters, the local red cross and salvation army for those that lose their homes in tradgedies such as fire, etc., the local hospitals where abused children are brought in. I believe most of them are local. I've only been a member since the end of November so I'm still learning.

Thanks for letting me know about the link, Malinda. I'll contact my friend and see if the link changed and she didn't tell. I know that the Benjamin Smiles project is ongoing. She'll be excited that you want to help!

Happy quilting,
