Sorry I have been AWOL

Posted on January 16, 2009 at 3:33pm 0 Comments

Hi everyone. I know I have not been on for awhile. I volunteer at the YMCA, in addition to working out 6 days a week, I am getting ready for a craft fair on the 25th and I have just been out straight. Just wanted to say hi and welcome to all our new members. It is -8 degrees here now...can't believe how cold it is. It is so hard to get up and out of the house at 7:30 when it is this cold but we do what we gotta do! I have been busy working on purses and tote bags...just got a couple new… Continue

Guess what is coming our way today???

Posted on January 10, 2009 at 10:51am 3 Comments

Yeah!!! Another 8-10" of that white stuff is expected to start anytime now and continue till around noon tomorrow!

Has anyone seen Marley & Me? My DH and I went out to dinner and then to the movies...something we have never done before in the 10 years since we met!..and saw it. It was so good. It was one of those family movies that are rarely made anymore. I won't spoil it for anyone but if you like good, clean, funny movies, you really should go see it. Well, I am off to go get some… Continue

White Stuff Again!!!!

Posted on January 7, 2009 at 10:05am 5 Comments

Would someone please explain to me why anyone would like this white stuff that I am looking at?
We got another 4-5" last night and then it turned to sleet and ice. Nice part about being retired is we don't have to go out in it. It is only the beginning of January and this is our 5th or 6th storm already...going to be a long winter. Oh well, that gives me more time to do some quilting..and maybe decrease the piles of UFO's that are taking over my sewing room.
Have a great day everyone!

New Pics

Hi everyone! I finally got this photo thing down!!! I just added a few more pics. The 2 pics of the blue item with the pen in it is a checkbook cover...really easy to make..maybe a 1/2 hour project. The little girl in the "pit" is my granddaughter Lily at her 4th birthday party last October. She has been in gymnastics for 2 years so we had her party in the gymnastics center at the Y.

I tried to upload about 10 pics of different things I have made but for some reason, these are the only 2 that came through. The first is a tote bag that I made a couple years ago. The other is a picture of Grand Cayman from our cruise last March. I like to look at it because it makes me feel warm even though it is 5 degrees out and 6" of snow on the ground!!! Will try more pics tomorrow.

Hi Mariellen, I was up your way this past weekend. You guys had some pretty good weather until Sunday. We didn't mind that though, we flew out on Sunday. I forgot how good the fried clams are - I was very happy to make it to Essex to my favorite seafood place. I also stopped in to Marketplace Quilts but Polkadot wasn't working that day, then enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with hubby next door at Red's Sandwich Shop. Have you made it there yet?

Hi Mariellen,

I was just reading past comments on my blog and I noticed you said your hubby and you used to scuba dive at Nubbles Point.
Did you ever have anything to do with the lighting of the underwater Christmas Tree at the Nubble Christmas lighting?
We have gone to that for many years and always enjoy it. The grandkids are especially intrigued with the underwater tree lighting. We went this year, but we were a bit late and missed the underwater tree lighting. The shuttle buses were running a bit slow and we were running a bit late. Still nice though!

Hi Mariellen,

... just sending you a quick "hello" - I hope you're feeling good these days and that all is well with your family and especially Tweeker.

Bless you for being able to keep going. I worked for a couple of years with a gal with MS. She had a family and did pretty well, most of the time, but of course, she had her days where she would have to call in as she just couldn't make it in to work that day. She finally decided to stay closer to home as her 45 minute drive was to difficult on her. Now we have lost touch.

Depending on how much you spend on fabric (the fusible fleece is not cheap either) - I would estimate on average $40. That subject came up on my weekend with the ladies when we learned how to make them. We figured the average cost for materials was between $25-$30. I hope this helps and Good Luck with your craft fair. Let me know how you make out.

Your fabric choices for the bag are so pretty. It's such a cheerful bag. Great job! I don't think you can go wrong with the totes.

Well, the snow was a false alarm, but not before schools were closed for the day! We got a few flurries but not even enough to stick to the grass. I can't say it makes me sad! Stay warm up in MA!

Oh, by the way - did you know there is a small version of the bow tucks tote?

Hi Mariellen - I'm so glad you like the pattern. I think the bag is perfect for almost anything. 1 daughter opted to eliminate the ties on the sides and it's still great! I'm also glad you did well with the instructions. I would have helped you as best as I could through messges, but I knew it was pretty easy. Like I said just a couple of small tips but other than that - smooth sailing! I still have a couple more to do myself. I will get to them eventually.

You will also be happy to know that we are expecting snow tomorrow. The forecast is for 1-3 inches. People panic when snow is in the forecast so it will be interesting. I haven't seen accumulated snow in 2 years! They cancel school for fog down here. It's pretty funny.
