Morning everyone.

I finally got a chance over the weekend to upload my photos from my craft/quilt show and some of my finished items that I gave away at Christmas. I wish I was better at this since my photos seem so large. I need to read up on reducing the size so that they don't take so long to load. Any suggestions from others would be greatly appreciated. I rec'd PhotoShop Pro series for Christmas that I'v used for family photos that cleans up the red eye and can even make me look 10… Continue

Another Fall Day in Ohio

Posted on October 27, 2009 at 11:06am 2 Comments

Hi everyone. Today is one of those crisp, Ohio fall days. Over the last few weeks, the leaves have turned their fall shades and most of the trees have lost them. It's one of those days that you'd love to be home in front of the fire, wrapped up in your favorite quilt. But for some of us, we're here at our desks in our office. I can't wait to be home for the next two days. I'll be finishing up items for my 2 craft shows these next few weeks, then hopefully on to Christmas items. I've cut out a… Continue

Quilting while babysitting

Posted on July 23, 2009 at 6:21am 11 Comments

I'm going to try and do some of my quilting and hand embroidery each of the days that I watch my grandaughter Lucy. I find it hard to break away from her, but I really should be using up some of my stash of fabric. It's starting to take over my sewing room and hopefully, with her watching me, I can plant the quilting seed. She's only 4-1/2 months old, so I'm hoping by the time she can use a needle, I'll have another quilter in the family.

Anyone from the Canton/Akron/Cleveland area???

Posted on January 13, 2009 at 2:03pm 5 Comments

I lost touch with most of my quilting customers since our local shop closed. I miss the sharing of information and helping out others, so I was interested in joining this quilting group and picking up some new ideas and tips. I've gone back to work on a semi-full time basis (OK part time but 35 hours a week) so my quilting hours has greatly diminished. My favorite passtime is piecing and embroidery.

Anyone out there from my local area?

Sorry it took me so long to see your request. I've got hooked to facebook. I still love my quilting and sewing though, just haven't been on here until lately. I just posted some new pictures of last projects. I love your purses and other crafts also.

Thank you sew very much... I am going to try this when I get back from my appointments. I think if I can figure it out--I might be able to put a see through pocket on the back to put I.D. in and maybe a dollar or 2.

Hi Nancy - the handbag tea cozy is from an older Australian magazine. I'll include it here for you as I could no longer find it available for sale, so I think it is okay to share. I've done 2-3 with some of the Crabapple teacups too and they come out great! Did you see the wallhanging quilt I made with some of those teacups? I used some of the matching Crabapple fabrics for it and love how it turned out.

It covers a smaller teapot, but you can adjust it for larger ones.

Nancy, The pattern is Pocket Parade Tote - Penny Sturges. I used the 987 Pellon iron on fleece - both on the lining and outer tote. I'm really liking it. Right now it is on sale at JoAnn's (3 yd/$10). I'm glad you like the tote/diaper bag, it was fun to make.

Nancy, Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Life took a wierd turn here for me and QWU had to go on the back burner. Anyway, I had some time to check out your new photos. AMAZING! Love the post it notes but I also love everything else too. I'm glad you liked them. They can also be made for the smaller ones too.

Carol, I thought you looked familiar. I worked at the Craft Shop for many years. Most of the fabric I use in my quilts came from there or from YB. I got spoiled buying wonderful quilt quality fabric at a great price and now only have Joann's around here. There are a few quilt shops around, but the price is really high and not the same type of service that we gave at the QS. A Saturday is best for me since I watch my granddaughter 2 days a week and work the other 3 in Akron at the same company my husband is at. If this darn snow stops, I'd love to make a trip down. I don't know about you, but winter here in NE Ohio is not for me.

Nancy, yes, yes, I loved the Craft Shop and was sick when I went to look for it (while my hubby was at Hartville Hardware) and found it gone. I just loved that store - Yankee Barn was good too but the Craft shop was my favorite. I agree -- they need a shop in Hartville. I was just in Berlin for the live Nativity Parade a few weeks before Christmas. I would love to get together - browse a little and eat a little - sounds like a wonderful day. Please let me know when you have a free day.... a Saturday would be fine and actually right now I'm laid off so except for the occasional days I do childcare for a neighbor even a weekday would be good too if you are available. Check your calendar and let me know what works for you. I'm so excited!!!!
