I love it !!!!! Have semi-retired my Janome and have bought a Brother NX 2000,The Laura Ashely version. First n ew machine for me in over 20 years. At least this time hubby didn't ask his usual question when I talk sewing machine. "Does it mend ??" And, of course, my standard answer is " Does it say Mending Machine anywhere on the box?? " lol …

This is from a kit I purchased a few years ago. Need to find backing and then it is ready to quilt. I am really pleased. Did the applique by hand - buttonhole stitch.

Merry Christmas to all !!

Those of you with small kiddies,  either with you on Christmas Eve or at their own home,  there is a web site that tracks Santa's journey . The Charlie Flight 21 Aerospace Control and Warning Squadron based in North Bay,Ontario, Canada --  It used to be easier when they were just NORAD - North America Air Defense and were connected to Colorado and their Air Defense people  - tracks Santa Christmas Eve and scramble fighters to make sure it is him and that he…

Sunbonnet Sue

I just posted pics of the 5 applique blocks for granddaughter's quilt. The seasonal blocks will be on point on the four corners of the centre Sue block. I was really pleased when the mitred corners on the centre applique came out perfectly the first time. After all the problems with the Y seams in the pieced blocks it really was great that the mitres were so easy. So tomorrow, it is start sewing the blocks together.

A real quandary ...

What do you do with 1and 1/4 cups of white sugar and 1 and 1/4 cups of brown sugar mixed ?????

Perhaps I should start at the beginning. Over March Break to those in Ontario,  Canada  -- Spring Break for those who live in the U.S., we had our 9 year old granddaughter here for the week. It was a busy week to say the least. The day before she went home was our "Nana and Kat  Day ". So we started out to make chocolate chip cookies from my mother's recipe. Kat was reading the recipe and…

I just viewed your pictures and they are lovely.  I love the Sun Bonnet Sue blocks. I also loved the pics of that precious little humming bird.  How did you tame it to sit on your hand?

Thank you for your kind words. Miss Bailey is our miracle granddaughter and we are so blessed by her. It has been fun sewing for her.

Thank you Nancy but I commented with the first picture I saw and then didn't know how to withdraw the comment.  On the next few pics I saw the design again and the directions.  I have made many of the

DN9P blocks but could not quite tell with the coloring in the fabrics where they were put together.  I appreciate the info, there is one question you could answer that would help,  What size were the squares in the 9patch before sewing or cutting them up?

Nancy, where are you in Northern Ontario? I am in Marathon on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Well my QWU friends are getting closer. Maybe someday we will get to meet and then we will be able to join the group that have met other QWU quilters.
