I'm a 63 year old Christian farm gal from Indiana, married, 2 kids, 2 grandgirls. Started quilted when I was 14. My interests are quilting, reading, outdoor photography, bicycling, genealogy, cooking, and many more things. My favorite books are historical fiction and Christian fiction. My favorite quilt patterns are the older traditional ones and I love working with flannels, batiks, florals, '30's repros. My all-time fav. colors are earthtones and autumn shades, but like just about any color. I do not care for the modernistic-style of quilts - just not to my taste.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, hand quilting, embroidery, general sewing, gardening
My pets are awesome!
dogs: Flash, Bully, Lucky, Spotty, Chase, Pixie , Jack and my newest - a Chocolate Lab mix I call Charlie. Apparently someone dumped him in our neighborhood - ran an ad for a "Found Dog", no one claimed him so he's mine! Cats: Chocolate Chip and 6 unnamed kittens; Horse: Pegasus
Thanks to everyone who posted birthday wishes! I really appreciate it! It was a really nice day - didn't do much because my hubby and son were working on the neighbor's dairy farm chopping silage. But I went shopping with my daughter and grandgirls, baked cookies and got in some quality quilting time! In the evening we visited some Amish friend for a few minute, grabbed a sandwich at McDonald's and came home! Not an exciting day, but I enjoyed the day! The sun was shining for the first time in a week, the trees are gorgeous right now - so it was a good start to my 64th year!
Nola, hope you have a very happy birthday. Enjoy the day and the year ahead. Do something you enjoy today - like quilting - this is your special day! Love your quilts, Nola and especially the butterfly squares.
I answered your comment on my page----but don't know if you get that or not. I named the quilt you asked about "Soup Kitchen Quilt" because our little country church has an annual Soup Kitchen as a fund raiser and some of the members donate items for a raffle. I donated that quilt for the raffle in 2007. I still don't know how these "blogs" go. But hopefully I will get the hang of it. Thanks for asking though.
