I have been quilting for several years but always enjoy easy projects and relearning skills. I quilt mostly for myself but am also involved in quilting with a group that makes quilts for chemo patients.
The challenge is out, lets see how many of us can join the wonderful new campaign called Stitching for Pink !!! Starts today until 30 October. Its gonna be so much fun with 10 projects to complete. Come on Embroiderers lets unite and join the fight against Breast Cancer !!!
Sherri, I am sorry about your Mom. Cancer is such a terrible disease. My husband had prostate cancer, had surgery then 30 radiation treatments. It has been 4 years, almost, and we go to Taussing every 6 months for tests. It is 6 months again in March and I am always so nervous.
I have one cat, Sassy, and she has personality plus. She is posted in my pictures.
I have never been to the quilt show in Columbus but will try to get my sister to go with me this year. Then we could meet. It would be fun.
Get those pictures up! After you do it a couple times it's easy.
Hi Sherrie, I would be happy to be your friend. I live in Tanglewood in Bainbridge which is just 5 miles from Chagrin but I work in Chagrin Falls.
I know University Heights, too. My husband was having radiation treatments at Cleveland Clinic and we took the back way to get there so we went through University Heights every day.
This is a small world. My daughter lives (near German Village) in Columbus and my son and daughter-in-law did too. They moved from Gahanna just 3 weeks ago to Seattle. So far away!!!
What kind of dogs do you have? Looking forward to seeing your quilt pictures.
Hey Sherrie. Welcome to our Ohio group. You'll find it's very active and lots of good information, and just lots of talk too. I see you quilt for the James. That's great. My sister spent some time there, and a friend of mine. I've heard about the James quilters for a while, and I've read about them in the paper. I'm just outside of Columbus, down towards Lancaster. I hope you post some pictures of your quilts soon, I love to look at pics!
I am from Columbus. Where are you from? Sorry to hear about all the cancer in your family. I lost both my mother and father to cancer within 4 months of each other 3 years ago. I quilt for the James Sewing sisters who donate to the James Hospital at Ohio State. Thanks for the welcome. I am so glad to be here.
Sherrie, yes love the Olympics but haven't gotten to see too much. Of course after I tuck Mom into bed in the evening, that is my time and it is still early evening in BC so get to take in the games then. I kept a watch on the hockey game last night while Mom and I were crafting in the kitchen. I was glad Canada won that game. Then I watched the speed skating and the bobsledding where Canada and US got medals. How nice. I am anxious to see the next hockey game and also the figure skating which I think is all today. Girls hockey today I think.
Hi Sherrie, I haven't been here very long myself, so it's nice to meet another newbie. I'm in NE Ohio a few miles from the PA line. Sounds like you are around Columbus then, what fun it must be to volunteer at the zoo! I've heard of the James group - some of the yahoo Ohio Quilters do work for them and get together regularly from what I understand. I am not close to anything like that, wish I was - frequent quilt retreats - a day of getting together with like minded quilters to have fun and do something good. There's so much to see on this site, look around and have fun with it. So many quilts to look at. Glad you are with us. Debbie
