About Me
I have been quilting since 2005. My husband and I are renovating our 1931 home. We finished the great room which faces the lake. In July, I quit a job that was not right for me, after trying for nine months to make it work. Since then, I have been playing housewife full time (which I have not had the chance to ever do, always had to work), preparing for and completing two bazaars. Have been able to sew/quilt to my hearts content, while having a clean house to boot!
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, paper piecing, machine quilting, embroidery, gardening
My pets are awesome!
Jasper, Kizzy, Chester (one dog, two cats)

Dresden plate pattern

Posted on October 30, 2014 at 12:27pm 4 Comments

I haven't been on here in a while, life seems to be getting in the way!  Hello, and it is nice to get back on here and visit with everyone!  I read the blog whenever I can, so I have been keeping up that way!

I need your help today, though.  I am working on a pre-cut Dresden plate quilt.  I am having trouble with the flower laying flat, after I have completed it.

I tried two at the…

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of my QWU family and friends.  I didn't realize it has been so long since my last post!  I read each and every one of the posts that you send and so much as been going on!  Whew!

I have been making most of my gifts this year and it has given me a great feeling of accomplishment!  I have even tackled…

November 1

I haven't posted for a while, new job, a cruise to Alaska, a quilting retreat where I shared my thoughts with a very good friend, thanks, you know who you are!  While all this has happened over the past few months, tonight my thoughts are with those on the east coast who are making their way out of a terrible storm.  As I sit hear listening to the Country Music Awards, they mention contributing what you can to the American Red…

City Fairs

Well, didn't know what to expect, but let me tell you, it was a whole lot of fun!  There were face painters, bouncy houses, wonderful food vendors, as wel as a great small town feeling of family fun.  Friday was set up day.  My cousin, her daughter, my husband, my sister and me got to the city park around noon or a little before, found our spot (marked on the grass was our numbers, #2 and #3.  Funny thing is, when we did the dry run at my cousins house I was on the left and she on the…

For all of my QWU family in the Washington state area, if you would like something fun to do, come on down to Pacific, Washington for Pacific Days!  I have started a small craft business, Benybun Hollow.  All things quilted and some things knitted!  This is a lovely "small town" craft fair, complete with bouncy houses the the kids, food vendors (and an expresso cart) for the adults, a face painter and live or recorded music.  About 50 craft vendors and some of the nicest folks I have ever…

Happy 4th of July

To my Quilt with Us family.  As you celebrate today, please take a moment to remember those men and women who are not able to join their families as they are protecting our freedom.

Please say a silent thank you!  And if while you are out and about getting final ingredients and such (and we never have to do that, do we?) if you see a veteran, please take a moment and say thank you!

If you have family members serving, I want to say thank you to you for your support of those…

Wow, it is June already

Posted on June 12, 2012 at 3:09pm 4 Comments

What can I say!  Time flies.  Just came home from a two week vacation, haven't done one of those for quite a while.  Road trip from Washington to California to Nevada!  I don't do photos very well, so I won't include any.  The countryside was fabulous, the mountain covered with snow and yes we did see snow on several occasions over several passes.  June, can you believe it? Snow in June.

First major stop was, no wait, first important stop was Yreka and a little quilt shop there, we…

Happy New Year to my QWU family!  By now, you all have your resolutions firmly in place, right?  For sure going to clear out the UFOs, right?  Oh and maybe do more charity work, right?  Oh, and let's not forget the special quilt for that someone special, right.  Oh, and the numerous other "last minute" projects that pop up!  Are you laughing with me now or groaning?  I challenge you to create to your hearts content, donate to your favorite charity and attend as many retreats as…

During the next few days, please take a moment of your time to say a prayer for those families who are not as…

Happy Thanksgiving Week

Good morning all and Happy Thanksgiving week.  I wanted to pass along that I am thankful for each and every one of you, some I know well, some I wish I knew better, and some that I am still destined to meet.  I love this site, the inspiration it provides, the laughter and yes the sadness that comes with laughter as well.  Be thankful for your blessings, share them with everyone you know, remember those who are no longer here and keep in your thoughts those who are…

Steph: we watched the game and saw the wind and rain. My son in Tacoma had no power from 1:00am till 4:30 pm today. My other son in pullman had 75 mph winds. It is a nasty day everywhere in WA. So glad the hawks won. That game worn me out. Too stressful and too much shouting from Moses Lake. Have a good weekend.

STephanie:  What a nice compliment... Thank You!  I go Mon-Thurs to the Central Wash Hosp in Wenatchee.  The nurses are amazing, the food is good and i don't have to do dishes.  It doesn't get any better than that.

Stephanie:  Thanks for asking.  My dr's appt went well.  For some reason my platelets decided to take a dive after round one so i was happy to hear that they are back to normal and I can go ahead with round 2 on Monday.  Looking forward to getting this whole mess over with.

hey...how's your new job going?  Did you do any bike trips this summer?  I'm still bugging DH to add a sidecar to his macho-man-bike so I can go with and have my martini and read will he drives.  Think that will ever happen?.....NOT.

Hi Stephanie, the pattern for my tablerunner is called "It Hits The Spot" from the book Weekend Quilting Wonders by Jeanne Stauffer & Sandra L. Hatch. The pattern is for a runner 48" x 12" but I made mine a little wider (14"). It's basically just cutting random color strips in various widths between 2 to 3 inches wide so mine were 2"x14" to 3"x14", sewing them together and then appliquing 12 circles over the sewn together strips, again the positions are just random.  I did a machine buttonhole stitch around each circle.   The circles could be as little or large as you like, I made four of them 2-3/4" diameter, four 3-1/2" diameter, and four 4-1/2" diameter and fused them in place. Sandwich, quilt, and bind. I quited with stitch in the ditch on the strips with a row of echo stitching about 1/4" from each circle but I can imagine all kinds of quilting patterns. Hope this helps.

On the waves I used Superior Thread's Glitter thread. It really works great. I'm really pleased with this one too. Thank you.

Stephanie, I feel your hug all the way across the miles.  I needed it, knowing someone cares.  This is a very hard time for me and my dh.  We love Mr Man very much and his sister has been his sidekick every since they were born almost 15 years ago. This will be hard on all of us but I told him tonight if he needs to go on to go, I will mourn him and cry but he can go.  I pray he goes on his own so I don't have to get the vet to put him down.  I won't let him suffer though.  I will do what is right before I let him suffer.  Thank you so much for sharing in my tears.  It means so much.  God Bless You, Linda Sue

Are you going to the Pacific West Quilt Show in Tacoma in August? Just asking so maybe could hook up if I get to come down. We'll talk later. By the way, you're a local phone call for me.

Hi Stephanie, you don't know me, YET. I'm another western WA gal at the other reaches of our beautiful and diverse state. I am up north just east of the Skagit Valley. Saw your name & pic with BJ so had to look you up to find out where you hail from. Don't know how many WA gals are on CWU as I have only been here since April of this year (when I finally got access to the internet). Where I live things are a little late to catch up. Dial-up was available, but couldn't connect, couldn't stay connected when you did connect, so wasn't worth the headach and trouble. Well anyway, the future has finally been delivered to us and oh how wonderful it has been to be able to connect with other fellow quilters! Anyways, pop over to my site and say hello if you feel so inclined. (Read your adventures of last years shop-hop and couldn't help but think of the one coming up. Won't be going myself this year but if you do have fun, and yes we have some GREAT shops at this end of the state.) Later,

Hi Stephanie!!  I don't get a corner in his new shop.  He did ask, but I really like being able to pop into my sewing room while doing other stuff around the house.  If I had to go outside I'm afraid I either wouldn't go very often, or stay too long!!!
