Painting Finished!

Posted on June 26, 2016 at 12:55pm 6 Comments

I have finished the karate painting of my twin granddaughters.  All that's left to do is sign it, and spray sealer on it and then send it off in the mail.

Thanks everyone for all the wonderful comments as it progressed. I have started drafting the picture for doing it as a thread painting. Once I get it started, I'll post its progress.…

I have been working on the karate painting of my twin granddaughters for a little while now. It is only the second portrait painting I have done and will be glad when I really paint faces without it taking weeks to get them to look human!

I still have a little tweaking to do and them I'm going to call it done! My next step will be to start drafting the thread painting and/or art quilt I hope to do using the painting as a guide. Must say this was fun to do as I love the bright colors…

Enjoying Life!

It's funny how another birthday puts things in perspective and you look back on just how good life has been. Yes, there have been dramatic ups and downs and some things I wish could turn out different, but all and all, life has been good.

Today I went to a painting class and was surprised by an unexpected birthday party from the instructor and shared by people that enjoy creating art as much or more than I do. It was a wonderful day. We spent 4 hours creating a painting that looks so…

Painting progress

Posted on May 30, 2016 at 12:45pm 4 Comments

The painting of my twin granddaughters karate picture is slowly progressing and I'm liking how it is coming together. The more I look at it, the more I want to do it as a thread painting and am looking at how I want to undertake that challenge. I may have to make it a little larger than the 16" x 20" that is its current size to really be able to give it the detail that I want.

Thanks to all who have been very encouraging about my art work.…

Those little girls need you & your DH!  Both my DH and I have such great memories of time spent with our grandparents and we were anxious to be the grandparents spending time with "the kids".  A few years ago two little girls from the neighborhood started coming by.  I hauled out some old toys and and acquired a few more at garage sales, etc.  Often another friend - or two - comes with them.  I knew their Mom from when she was a baby and we've all lived nearby for "forever".  Their maternal grandmother is dead and I've never heard of paternal grandparents.  Then two years ago we had a granddaughter born to us.  We love grandparenting and are grateful to have these children in our lives.  Sounds like you feel the same way!

Now, Terri....you have driven me to tears.  Thank you so much for your very kind words.  I am at a loss for words.  Sharing our values makes us "kindred sisters".  I am honored to be your friend.

No, we ate just enough on Thursday and will not eat any more turkey until tomorrow, Sunday.  It is like having Thanksgiving all over, again.  I also add a couple of dished that I did not make on Thanksgiving.  Dh is a personal shopper at Macy's, so he is working loooong hours and little time to eat.  I enjoy my meals with him, so I eat very little during the day.  No turkey picking from the fridge.   Smiles,

Stay blessed, my sister.

Terri, I am going through my old emails and trying to clean up my page.  I just read that you called me "a pearl of the great prize."  Thanks so much, as I love the sound of that.  My BF used to be called a "black pearl" and I have always loved that term of endearment.  Now, I have my own term.  LOL!  I can't wait to call a couple of friends that "know" the 40 year old "story" and tell them that I am called "a pearl of a great prize".  I am so tickled.  LOL!
