About Me
I am an avid quilter and knitter, and I live near an Old Order Amish community in the Northeast part of Iowa. They influenced my quilting in the beginning as I was fascinated by their traditional quilts and wonderful hand quilting.I was totally hooked! Since then I have enjoyed quilt shows, making quilts,table-runners and wall hangings, and of course buying fabric! I look forward to joining a quilt group.
Hobbies and Interests
quilting, applique, hand quilting, machine quilting, embroidery, general sewing, knitting, gardening
My pets are awesome!

Trish, all that you wrote about is so interesting. I have not had the visits you have been blessed to see but havae been to D.C. and the surrounding areas and the cementary where Ted Kennnedy will be buried. Everything is aloways so much more interesting when you have witnessed the area and so much history there. I understand about the Kennedy Era I too feel that way seems like it has been a sad week. thanks for sharing Paula

Hi Trish, I wish there were more hand quilted quilts put into shows these days. I went to one this spring and I think there were two. Yikes! The quilts on my blog are all hand quilted except for the froggies. The Hawaiian and the Yellow quilt are only wallhanging size but they are quilted to death!

(I love your pastel quilt!)

Hi Trish - thanks very much for your kind words. I love Harry, but he can be really in the way sometimes. He is pretty good natured when I toss him off the sewing machine or cutting table, just to have him come back again. Yesterday I went to a quilt show and there is a vendor that has a booth at most of the local shows that has only cat/dog and animal prints. I had gotten an applique pattern about 2 months ago from e-bay that has scenes with cats getting into the sewing basket - perfect for Harry! Yesterday at that booth I found a fabric that has hilarious vignettes of cats getting into trouble in the sewing room. One of them has some tuxedo cats climbing up the curtains! Harry hasn't done that yet, but he does love to bat at the weights from the blind cords. They are short enough so he can't get hurt, but he's very funny when he does. BTW, the last few lines of this message have been completed with Harry standing in front of the computer screen - more unneeded help! LOL. Barb

Hi Trish, I'm Anne from Ontario Canada. I was on your site one time at the very start, and saved your picture of Pastel Scrap to my favourites!!
I am a 30's lover,,,and thought it looked like a good one for that.
I really like Boo and the snowman......Hawkeye and Thomas are pretty cute too! I've never been to Iowa, but am fascinated with the Amish. I've been to Berlin area in Holmes County, Ohio, twice and to the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania several times. Where in Iowa are good spots to visit for that?

Trish, Thanks for the warm welcome, and yes beads and quilts can go hand and hand. I started this all because I went to a bunch of "quilt til you Wilt" retreats to make scissor fobs. Now I will be going to quilt!

Welcome to the Quilt Frame. I loved your slide show, and was especially interested in the fishing quilting for hubby. Is he a fly fisherman? My husband is - we have this on-going discussion about his fishing expeditions. The only thing I see him doing is standing in the middle of a stream taking knots out of his line - that's not fishing to me. I have a Grace king size hand quilting frame and love it, as hand quilting is the only kind I do. So great to have you join us. Joyce

Trish, I just looked through your photos and they are all so pretty! Love the tablerunners. Those seem to really take my eye - guess because it's a project you can complete more quickly and so fun to make and give. The snowman is darling. You always pick such pretty color combinations. Thanks for sharing!
