Tomorrow, Monday, at 7:30 AM, my daughter Lori, 36, will be having a total knee replacement...she had surgery last November on her knee and we waited 3 months to see if the surgery worked...it didn't, so now the only thing left to do is a knee replacement...I had one done 5 years ago and need another one, but my daughter needs to get back to work, so mine was put on hold so I could care for her and will have mine sometime in the spring...I would appreciate your prayers for her...
thank you… Continue

Hi all. We got back late this afternoon from our trip to see Adam and Jenna. Jenna continues her stay in the hospital. She was a bit better today. They were doing a stress test on the baby when we were with her today, so got to hear the baby's heartbeat.
Just a bit more info for you as you continue to prayer for them.... along with the preeclampsia, Jenna has diabetes (with the pregnancy), but also has Lupus, which is why it is a high risk pregnancy to begin with. They are giving steroids… Continue

I'm finally back to my quilting projects after many weeks away! Holiday company and travels took up two weeks in late December. Then studying income tax law and software took up most of 3 weeks in January! I teach a refresher class for a local group of AARP TaxAide volunteers. I spent many hours reviewing and learning what is new this year in order to be able to explain it to 12 students. Very intense and stressful! (But wonderful brain exercise!)
As promised, I finally posted a couple of… Continue

Can you believe it is almost FEB already? Where does the time fly? Today it is snowing like heck! I decided it would be a good day for one last turkey dinner. I finally finished another baby boy quilt. Will be giving it to a cousin who has just adopted a baby boy. I am getting excited to attend my Idaho quilt retreat next weekend, now I just have to go and pack all my stuff for the retreat. That is the hard work. Hope you all have a great FEB. I am posting a picture of the newly finished baby… Continue

It seems like so many of us, myself included, have made, or are always making resolutions, to complete UFO's every year. Many of us start out with good intentions and then somewhere along the way, like those extra pounds we promise to take off from the holidays, we slip back into old habits.
I have a couple of ideas to solve this! This last year I learned pretty quickly that good intentions don't always happen, and it's not always because we're lazy or get sidetracked by yet another… Continue

Wow. It's been almost a whole year since I posted anything to this blog. I guess that's what happens when things get too busy.
I quit working for the tax company and just do taxes on my own for a few people now. The office here stressed me out so much it took at least two months for me to recover after tax season was over and that just isn't good.
Right now I'm working on getting enough wall hangings done for a mini trunk show for the local guild. I have two more to make… Continue

Good Sunday Afternoon Ladies,
Believe it this is the last day of Jan 2010. Boy where does the time go?
I have been busy this month, working on getting some quilting done. My new years resolution so far has not been going well. Although I did quilt bind and label a couple baby quilts that were in my UFO pile. But I started three other quilts, and not one of them are finished yet. Two will be done by Tuesday. I have to take them to the guild meeting to show so that I can get my… Continue

Gottcha...not really eye candy for quilters but it doesn't get much better than this. Eye-sushi?
Last night was my little brother's birthday. I'm not sure but I think he turned 49...still a baby. Anyway, we have this sorta new sushi restaurant in town and… Continue

Kind neighbor gave me a ride home, husband is stuck in the driveway. and to beat it all I got the virus my grandchildren and daughter had this past week. So fri and sat was a bummer because I could'nt do anything. Not Fun. On the bright side of that I did lose… Continue

People may not remember what you said or did, but they always remember how you made them feel.

Emotions are on such a pendulum today. Depending on which doctor stops in to see Jenna they have kept changing their minds about Jenna and coming home. The kids are getting a bit frustrated. right now it is not looking like any time soon, but who knows. I told Adam that he and Jenna needs to contact her doctor on Monday and ask to talk with him to really find out what is going on. I know that they would discharge her if they felt it was safe -- we all know they don't keep you in any longer than… Continue

I made my delivery in Grapevine, TX yesterday morning, then drove up to Denison, TX to drop the trailer. I am parked at Loves in Colbert, OK. Was offered a load in Dallas going to Tulsa, which would be an opportunity to go home but it was only 5000 lbs and with icy roads, I chose to decline and stay parked to wait for my turn in line for the next load for Black and Decker. I will get a load Tuesday. So I have all weekend to quilt!
Also, since I am bobtail, I can park in the Colbert Post… Continue

Whew - long time, no see...LOL. I've been off-line for several weeks now due to sciatica and dry eyes. Almost made it impossible to sit at a computer. But the good news is that I've gotten to finish the online quilt show one of my groups put together. When it's finally ready for viewing by all, I will post it again here. Thanks for everyone's prayers.

Good Afternoon to all. I just got home from work a couple hours ago and my order from CT was here today. I ordered the Jinny Beyer book The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns. OMG I love this book! I'll never be at a loss for design ideas again. The book is huge with tons of info. I like the Photograghs of the actual block designs and then she has the graphic line designs as well. For thoughs considering this book, I think it was well worth the price. The only problem I have is with the font… Continue

While the monster quilt has been loaded this past week I have not made much progress past the top borders which has pine trees and pine boughs and wandering leaves because I just wasn't happy with anything I auditioned on the blocks. The fabrics are so busy that a lot of custom quilting just would not show up so didn't seem worth the effort. Finally last night my niece and I arrived at a solution that I like - SID around the pieced blocks with CC on the center and corner smaller blocks and then… Continue

My men moved cows to cornstalks (winter feed in these parts) this morning. They saddled up before daylight and were back at the house around 1:30 for dinner. It was a long drive, but the day was cool enough to keep the cows from overheating and warm enough not to freeze out the guys on horseback. I spent the morning in the kitchen preparing a meal for the extra hands. We used to have the meal ready by noon (just in case), then stick it in the oven, and didn't set things on the table until they… Continue

Talked to my M's Dr. yesterday. Seems the cancer has spread in her lungs, most of her lungs are already taken up and the pain she's having is the cancer which I figured was the case. She will not go to a Nursing Home and doesn't want Hospice to come but they will come a few days a week to help her out. She should come home Monday or Tuesday.
My DD and I made a few changes in her room which will make her really angry but it needed to be done. She has a small room and a big antique bed… Continue
