I took the first cuts of my very first quilt yesterday. I was scared to death wishing I had someone to stand over me and give me advice. Anyone ever have that experience? I have never taken a quilting class and am trying to do this myself by reading instruction books. Does anyone have any advise? I can sure use it. I plan on hitting the sewing room in a few hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (No one in my family has ever done quilting)
I handed the first one to…Continue
I don't know if I mentioned before but I've been helping our local quilt shop with a monthly "Sew In" and the owner has named it Sew Simple Sewing. It's kinda like a table runner of the month club. The customer gets the pattern for free with the purchase of the class($7) and then they need to purchase a kit to make the top. We are trying hard to keep the kits at…Continue
I made this quilt this weekend for a friend at work. I seem to have gotten past my road block and it feels great. This one was very fun to do! I should really get into my sewing room and purge like a lot you are doing or I could just sew for myself today :) Back to work tomorrow. …Continue
I took the jump yesterday to purge my stash---- of quilts. They had become overwhelming,, 36 years of quilting is taking its toll on where to put them. My DS, DIL and 2 DGD's were given choices of what to pick from. Hey,, you can't let them have all your favorites. I think they ended up with a total of about 15 for the family,,, some wall hangings, some lap size, and a few bed size. One I had planned to hold on to, but DS expressed an interest in it,, so I let it go. I can always…Continue
Well with this new year just starting, I think I am going to try and get things done.
1. workout more
2. clean up the house (52 bags in 52 weeks)
3. finish at least 12 quilts
4. read at least 60 books
5. post more often
6. have fun
This should work, if I stay on schedule. Today I went to a huge sale at a Quilt store! Love love it.
Hi, I was in my women cave last night just cleaning up for the next project and I was thinking that I have a lot of sewing stuff! I think that my New Year's resolution will be to use every tool & all the new templates I have, use all my stash up (that might take more than a year) finish all my UFO's, make new quilts for everyone in my family AGAIN and really learn how to use…Continue

Happy 2012 to all! We in Upstate NY are having a 50 degree day! Went out shopping and everyone is happy! This is my kind of winter! Only the northerners can appreciate this!!! Saw someone in a convertible! Yes, it will end...but, until then... we will enjoy! Quite a celebration in NYC last night...never gets old! Good ole Dick Clark...now there's someone to aspire to! He is doing great!
Hope everyone is having a relaxing day...tomorrow we will be enjoying all the big games and the…Continue
I forgot to tell you our Christmas new's, we are being Blessed with Grandchild #10 this August! We are so excited and can't wait to see this new little face. Baby L will turn two this March and can you imagine this little tornado in my house? Nothing is sacred Nothing I tell you. LOL She has no respect for a person's stash, the messier the better. But I adore this little thing.
Hope you are all well and enjoy the New Year.
Hello and Happy New Years to all. I hope that 2012 will bring us everything we need, embrace us with things we desire and help us to remember who and what we stand for.

I'm new to this site and haven't gotten to know anyone yet. So I hope 2012 will bring some new friendships. My main goal for the new year is to finish as many UFOs as possible and to return to charity quilting. I've also joined 2 BOM groups so I pray I can keep up with those as well especially since I'm not home until end of March. I winter in Arizona and I don't have my stash here...so I'll be buying fat quarters. Also to start the new year I'm hoping to adopt a rescue Havanese 18 month old…Continue
