Finally went to the Sewing Expo

The Sewing Expo is at the Washington State Fairgrounds through sunday and I finally got to go!

For  years I've always worked the weekends and was too tired to go to the shows after work.  My boss changed the schedule some time ago so that I could baby sit Aiden on Fridays when my daughter needed me to.  He tried to get me to work today but the joke was on him.  It was my day to babysit and he knew that he couldn't force the issue.  So it was Aidens big day out.

March 1 is his…

Perfect ending to the beginning of a crappy weekend....

Never got above freezing today but the sun was out in full force!  I even stood in the doorway just to feel it on my face.  Unfortunately I won't be seeing it for a couple days as we have another round of snow comming in starting tomorrow and into Sunday.  8" +.  Bread..check..milk...check...chocolate...CHECK CHECK and a pink and brown project I'm currently working on.  Let it snow!

Enjoy your weekend all! :)…

This is what you get when you turn 62!

I started to make my car payment on Wednesday, but then got a wild hair to go to the local Hyundai dealer and see what kind of a deal they would make us on a 2014 Tucson.  We have had it for 2 days, but I didn't want to post a pic of it until today as this is my actual birthday.  It almost makes me feel like a kid…

Is Anything in the Refrigerator Fair Game?

This morning DH expected praise (or at least thanks) for not eating a small piece of caramel cheese cake I had left from my birthday dinner at a nice restaurant.  It was a fancy dinner, attended by both DH and me.  I had a substantial leftover container, into which the server had put one tiny slice of cheesecake, since it was my birthday and I had specifically requested that the restaurant not do any "whoop-de-doo" about it during the meal.  The cheesecake languished in the…

What quilt pattern is this?!

I came across a picture of a quilt that I need to identify the pattern for...if anyone could name it for me, I would be so grateful!  I want to make this quilt using some of the new CT fabrics.

Name this quilt pattern!

Thanks,

Kristine

CT--Chic Floral 104 in wide

I wish the Chic floral would come in other background colors than the grey. Do love it and hope it will find a home with other prints in my stash and make it way to a new quilt.

Chalk marker

Marked quilt lines with quilters blue chalk wheel; fellow quilter ran it through the rinse cycle in washing machine.  The blue chalk lines are still there as bright as when I put them on.  Has anyone had that same problem?  Any suggestions for removal of chalk?  She's going to try a full cycle with soap.  Most of time chalk wears off with manipulation of quilt while quilting; sometimes have to remark.  Don't know why it stuck so good this time.  Thanks for advice.

Another project finish!

I worked 2 days quilting this for my customer Margie.  Hope she likes it!  I stressed all night about it, woke up this morning with a headache, and 1/2 the day the headache held on.  Thankfully after taking a quilt off the frame and you are able to see the whole thing it usually looks better!  Now until delivery I will be praying she likes it!

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!…

Another Runaway Done!

Well now, here's another abandoned table runner from the cavernous place I call my closet. It was rather fun to uncover so many "almost finished" projects. What another find almost finished. It took so little time before attaching the binding. What was I thinking putting this goody away?! Geese! To read…

First real free motion project!

Hello All!  Spent the weekend finishing this project which was supposed to be a wall hanging, but I only did half the pattern and made it into a table runner.  This is my first real attempt at free motion on something other than blank practice pieces.  It's not perfect but I guess that's the beauty of free motion, or at least what I'm telling myself.

I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!…

Work - The Necessary Evil

I'm finally back to work and again I wish I'd married a rich man - Darn it all! I suppose I can say that I've been able to travel...on Uncle Sam's dime anyway. I suppose I can also say I've gained a measure of cultural enlightenment that I might not have been able to otherwise. I must say that I've met a great many people from all parts of the world and found my place in it to be a much better one. I can also say that I've also gained a much better appreciation for the freedoms to be found…

High Fiber—Happy Endings

This week brought this wonderful book into my life, Tudor Roses (2013 edition) by Alice Starmore.

It's a reworking of the 1998 book of the same name, but with the sweaters…

Best place to be

Just returned from quilt camp yesterday.  It was the best place to be when we got 16 inches of snow last Friday.  Camp locale was on a lake so we just kept watching wind and snow across lake and kept on sewing.  Today I'm back in the real world.

Practice, Practice, Practice, who has time to Practice?

Finally something to show for what I've been trying to get done with my projects.  I decided to make a pillow sham with the left over material I had from the quilt top I posted before.  I've had the top part of the pillow done for quite some time but I feel so lost without my longarm machine.  I have the brother 1500 mid arm but I've not faired so well with the quilting on this machine.  I've been afraid to start quilting on this for fear of ending up with a mess that would take me forever…
