Snowy day in Minnesota

Well like the saying goes March is going out like a lion. We have about 41/2- 5inches of snow. And probably that much more coming. My yard was finally snow free not any more. Today I thought that I would sew, but instead I went through my quilting patterns and books and put patterns in binders and organized my book case what I job but at least it is done. Hopefully I can keep it that way at least for a while. So I think tomorrow will be a sewing day well my DH shovels snow.

No Sewing Today

DH had a doctor's appointment this am, so went with him. Then came home and information we needed for taxes became an all out fiasco. Investments, my dh wants to pull all the money out and put it in cd's. Taxes can be such a mess sometimes. I will be sewing most of the day tomorrow. I have quilting to do then I will clean my space. Big sale this weekend, so neet to price my stuff. Worked out at the gym today for my first time. I didn't make it through the whole workout, but did most of it. I… Continue

Snow, Snow, Snow!!!

What a great quilting day this has been! Since I got out of bed the weather has been changing every hour it seems from snow to rain to light snow to heavy snow. Yesterday my DH was blowing leaves and today he's blowing snow. UGH! I guess that's what you get when you live as far north as you can in NW Wi. Forcast calls for more snow on Sun. This is getting to be way too much. Yesterday DH saw daffodil spears peaking through the dirt; they'll soon be peaking through the snow. I have more green in… Continue

Hubby was a trooper!!

Well, we just got back from our vacation in sunny California (however it remained pretty cool along the coast). I managed to make it to 6 different quilt shops in four different cities in two days. I must say - my husband was a trooper. He went in to every shop with me and didn't complain much at all. He didn't even bark about how much money I spent - I love that man!! We went to Wine Country quilt shop in Paso Robles; The Quiltery in Paso Robles; Sew Fun in Atascadero; Quilters Cupboard in… Continue

Hair cut day

I am trying to get myself mentally prepared to take my 3 and 4 year old for their haircuts. They are both so overdue they maybe confused with homeless childeren :-) Lets hope it goes smoothly for everyone.

My long arm quilter has said she would love to donate her quilting and the batting of my TAW quilt for Nursery school. She was also said she will sew the binding. The school is very excited and planning to use the quilt in a raffle. I hope it does well for them.

I… Continue

Quilt Fever

The second graduation quilt top is finished and I'm already itching to get started on another quilt. The graduation deadline doesn't seem so intimidating now. One will be tied and the other one machine quilted. I'm looking forward to using the CT wool quilt batt for the first time. There is snow on the ground and the wind is howling, so it will be a good stay-inside-and-quilt day.

Old Fashioned Day

It has been quite a while since I participated in an old fashioned quilting bee as I did yesterday. I was invited by a friend to come out to her church's quilting bee (held once a month) I arrived armed with my needles, scissors, thimble and lunch to find them already getting it on the frame. 15 minutes and it was ready to quilt. by 10:30 am the borders were done and ready for the first roll. These ladies are FAST, I had considered myself a fairly decent handquilter, but these octagenarians… Continue

Working on 3rd Comfort Quilt

I finished two quilts for the guild meeting in March. Yesterday I finished piecing the top for #3 and I have started to set it up on my quilter. I hope to have it done by the April meeting.

I started to work on my Crazy Quilt due in June for the contest. But I feel the need/desire to get the Comfort quilts done first.

Since my last blog, I have taken 2 classes. The class on March 7, called Shadow Box quilt, was given to me as a birthday gift by my 2 friends. I am doing… Continue

Busy Monday

Started out today with water aerobics, then went to the doctor about the cyst. Thank heavens it is gone. Then my DH wanted to stop at the grocery store. Then came home and tried to clean up a little. DH is off to lodge tonight so might hit my sewing space to clean up a bit and decide what I want to do next. My DD has a show this weekend in my DS home town. So I will probably go with her so I can see the grandson. Him and I need to make a date for fishing after I turn 65 and don't need a license… Continue

Busy Weekend

Well I really tried to do some quilting this weekend. I got the gold kalidascope table runner sandwiched, and quilted round flowers in the blank maroon squares and hand quilted oak leaves down the gold sides. I have one more side to hand quilt and then sew my binding and done with another project. WOOO HOOO

Alexia's Baby Quilt

This weekend I finished a baby quilt I was doing for a friend to give. It probably has the most unusual color combination I've worked on, but she picked out the colors - it was to be a bright and sunny quilt - and I think she got her wish! Anyway, I was there when she gave it to the new parents and they loved it! I have it posted on my page because I have no idea how to add it here. Well, on to quilting!

Everything has to end...

Good morning-

Our last full day in Orlando...going home to Upstate NY...this has been a memorable visit. Upon arriving, I started getting fitted for new prosthetics(bilateral). I have spent the past two months learning how to walk all over again! I have been an amputee for 32 years so not new to it...What I want to tell you is that this prosthetic place is state of the art. If, you know anyone with this problem, especially diabetics...this is the place to come to. This system is designed… Continue

Are you coming back?

Well, March is almost at and end and I’m wondering if we will get our lovely ladies back. Not that I haven’t enjoyed the March Madness banner, I have….in fact I have taken advantage of the sales and place two different orders to get some big savings. I’m now waiting for my “40% off tool” order to arrive. It was shipped last week so should be here any day now. I ordered a bunch of stuff to use as stocking stuffers. Great prices, why not? Still, I liked our ladies at the top.

I’m really glad… Continue

Spring, Memories and Gardening

Good morning everyone.

After almost a week of cloudy days, the sun is now shining brightly. The grass is green and growing fast. It's almost time to get the mower out. I love the scent of fresh cut grass even though it brings me to tears. Buds are starting to peek from limbs. Soon they will burst open in unison, and with it, the promise of warm weather.

I'm expecting my vegetable seed order today. I've decided to put out a small garden this year in memory of my… Continue

Great Grandmother, again

Just found out last evening that my DH and I are great-grandparents for the second time. Hannah Rose was born on the 19th of March. (Sometimes it takes awhile to hear from the Florida end of the family tree.) There are days I feel like I am old enough to be a great-grandma, but retirement is still over ten years away! I guess that is what happens when you become an instant mother and grand-mother on your wedding day. Now I will have to get her quilt in the mail to her.

A new EPP quilter!

My step-daughter saw that I was hooked on EPP and asked that I show her so she could make "something small" like a pillow top. She didn't want to "over-commit" to anything else.

Well, I knew how it felt once you realized how easy and fun it is to do English Paper Piecing so I went over to her house for dinner Saturday with a completely prepared coupon organizer like mine.…

handpiecing corner

My most comfortable corner for handpiecing. Jim even hung a lovely quilt rack for hanging the rows so I don't have to keep ironing them. :)
