We have been in Orlando for the past two months...consulting/vacation. I am so ready to go home tomorrow! Mainly to see family, especially gdsons, friends and to see my machines!!! I have missed sewing on them. The car is so packed that bringing a machine is out of the question. Have tried to rent a machine in the past, but haven't found one. Those of you who work in shops, might want to think about that service.
Wouldn't you know that... I would find THE perfect lamp for our cottage.…Continue
How do you remove the blue, washable marking pens markings from your fabric? I've dabbed the blocks with cold water and the marks seem to reappear again. I've done this several times. I'm almost in a panick mode here. Help me!
I have made eight of these purses for family and myself. The pink one is for a friend...she saw it... liked it and asked me to make one for her. She picked out her own fabrics. The handles have screws on the ends so you can make several and just change the handle. The pattern is very easy and they come out so good. fun! fun! It was designed by …Continue
Just had to share this pic of our ggd that was born in January. Spent time with her at the ball park tonight, she is the cutest and sweetest little girl. My dgd took this pic of her. BTW the steak was wonderful tonight, thank everyone for the anniversary wishes!!!…Continue
Hi Ladies, Thought I would check in and say hello. I made a pretty purse this week but forgot to take a picture of it before mailing it. It was the "ps026 mini bowtucks" pattern by Penny Sturges. Fun to make. I will be making another one. Probably out of the same colors as I have enough fabric left over.
I have been keeping up with all your posts. I do take time every day to check in and see what everyone is up to these days. I see many new names coming up. Welcome to all you…Continue
I think I have blogged about mine and dh's anniversary every year since I've been a member. Tomorrow, Thursday the 29th will make our 44th year. 44 years ago tomorrow, I was head over heels in love. This man, this precious man was then and still is the love of my life. We raised 3 sons, seen all 3 married with families. We have 7 grandchildren and 1 ggd! This is my sweetheart, my lover, my helpmeet, the shoulder I cry on, the man that has kept his vows to me in the good times and bad,…Continue
Oh look at me with the TWO posts in one day. Hey, Connecting Threads staff: I wish you would have a charcoal-colored solid. I had to pay way too much money for the charcoal in this quilt.
(I know, that's a lame picture. I'm sorry.)
It's just charcoal grey gives such a nice contrast. …Continue
I love those wee charms! Making some baby quilts with them. Totally ripped off the idea from a picture of a doormat on the cover of a Lowe's Creative Ideas Catalog. Inspiration comes from odd places, huh?Continue
I have never written a blog post so that it was posted for all to see. I am part of several groups here on QWU and comment often on them, but this is a first for this kind of post. I do it now because I read these blogs all the time and I know the talent that is out there.
The quilt I am doing for a grandson has a star--one that he picked from a book. I am showing a picture of it. I have done this star once before as a class with Eleanor Burns in a quilt in a day class in Paducah. …Continue
Here Ye! Here Ye! Announcing a bran spanking new quilt along! We will construct a delightfully whimsical country scene of four barn blocks, four chicken blocks, four borders with a primitive tree, two sweet lambs and a simple fence and the final border made of triangles and stars. It is presented as sew-along lessons with reference photos to guide you through…Continue
Joe’s parents, Peter and Hannah, lived in a dugout before building this house featured with this blog. (A larger home was built on their farm before I was born, so I was never in the original home.)
We were frequent visitors to Joe and Aunt Julia Olson’s house…Continue
Well, for those of you waiting to see the photo of the tissue holder--hmmmm, not happening. I had to pack the good one, I'm leaving this afternoon. The second one I made, well, I'm not sure where I jumped the track--I probably assumed that since I did it right once, I wouldn't need to think as hard the second time. WRONG. I really ought to know myself better than that.
Anyway, I'll be gone for about two weeks. Going to a mystery readers conference in California and from there to…Continue

Good morning all;
I've been machine quilting (Queen Lizzie sit down/table top machine) a rather large quilt with Superior Threads Bottom LIne (bobbin 60wt.) and So Fine (top #50/3). No problem. When I changed to a Superior Threads varigated thread So Fine #40/3 with the Bottom LIne in the bobbin, the thread just shredded numerous times, jaming the machine and making me utterly frustrated.
I'm welcome to any and all suggestions regarding machine quilting. Here's what it looks…Continue
