I had been in the Stack and Whack 4 patch swap a couple of years ago and have now finished putting my blocks together into a quilt! It will go to the LAQ tomorrow for quilting. The blocks were 10 i had to try to get a background and then a border to match lucky me they were already in my stash. I was at a retreat and got 3 tops and a quillow finished. I made up the design to tilt the blocks a little and laid them out as best I could Light Dark Light Dark and then reverse on the next…Continue

If, anyone sees Spring, send it to the northeast! We are flying to Fl. next week for three weeks of hopefully warm weather. Will stop in at my favorite fabric store in North Ft. Myers called Quilt Lover's Hangout. The gals are so nice and helpful! Have a great weekend...and remember:…Continue
This is, without a doubt, my oldest UFO. It has been in various stages of construction for more than 20 years! It was my second class with the guild, and we were being taught the Log Cabin. I had this wonderful idea to do it it shades of gray and black with a yellow center -- sort of a light-in-the-window…Continue
My SIL caught DD sleeping with Aiden. He is a month old now and yes he is growing…Continue
My quilting friends are sort of equally split on this one. The theme for the Quilt Show was chosen last fall, "Quilts in the Garden", or maybe its "Quilting in the Garden" - anyway it is something to do with "garden". So I made this quilt to illustrate the theme and use up some gradated Fossil Fern fabric I had hanging around. It just sort of evolved as I went along. I named it "Fried Egg Flowers and Funky Butterflies," since I couldn't think of anything clever. The pattern on which it…Continue
I have been sewing all day, finishing a T-shirt quilt for a former student; I also taught with his mom. Anyway, he is graduating from college this year. I don't feel old because my first class of second grade kids are 47 or 48!!!
The point is that…Continue
Good morning! I am thinking of getting a Tutto Sewing Machine Trolley...basically luggage for a sewing machine. I am going to "sew" many clubs and classes that I find my already sore hand, elbow, and shoulder are getting worse!! I injured my elbow and shoulder last summer gardening, and I have been trying to take it easy. Anyway, I was looking at the rolling sewing machine luggage and thought these look good. Just wondering if anyone has one and how they like it.
I managed to redo the quilt border for one of my quilts finally. The first one didn't look right and it took a while for me to catch it. The spacing between blocks was totally different from side to side. I've contemplated the idea of what to do about it and this is what I came up with.
My before and after pictures of the quilt…Continue
Well, that may be overstating the case a bit, but It seems like I have been working on this quilt all of my adult life! I started it in 2005 when DS went off to college to study geology in Montana. There he met DIL-to-be, who was also studying geology, so I started collecting "rock" fabric with this quilt in mind. There are 64 blocks with 3 "rocks" each -- let's see now, that's 192 "rocks", all turned-edge machine appliqued - no fusible. It got put away from time to time over the years,…Continue
Life is GOOD!. Love it when a customer supports Iowa comfort by allowing me to quilt their quilts....but also donates a top! Thanks Judy!
Hey Ladies! Some of you have been teasing me about my near over-use of red fabric in my quilts, so to be balanced , here's a blue one! :)
Here's a photo of it coming off the quilt frame.…Continue
I am trying to locate Diana Moore (Lovenest Designs) who designed a wallhanging, Eternal Hope. If someone can put me in touch with her I would appreciate it. I am new to this site.
