Our second DGD arrived Friday night at 11p.m. weighing 6 lbs. 10 ozs. She had a hard time coming into the world but all is well now. Her name is Kenadie. This grandma is just too old for all this excitement. I also put a picture DGD #1. Alexandra is 3 weeks old now.…Continue
Hello all. I need some input on a lap quilt for my SIL. She is in a wheelchair after having both legs amputated, one below the knee and one above. I am toying with the idea of giving her the option of having it loose or being able to fold it under and make a pouch for her legs. Does anyone have suggestions for a closure for the pouch? I don't want to use Velcro, I tested strings to tie but they drag when not in use. I'm now thinking a button and buttonhole. Any suggestions would be greatly…Continue
The "Madison Romance" cardigan is finished:
I worked on the button loops at Diane's during Vintage Stitchers. Here is the link to my Ravelry page for the project.

A few days ago, I posted a picture of these quilt blocks with a request for advice on what color to use for the lattice. I got some great suggestions and went to my LQS leaning towards using brick or barn red for the lattice, but I couldn't find just the right shade of that. Next I looked for pale yellows, but…Continue
Just completed a little "experimental" dress, a way for me to learn my machine embroidery without investing too much $. But, for the first time EVER my blue water disappearing marker did not disappear! I've been using these markers since they first came out and have never had this happen before, even when…Continue
I am bound & determined to get as many of my older UFOs finished this year as I can. Here is a pic of a round robin that was made in 2010. I put the last stitch in the binding at 1:00 this morning. I called it "Fiesta" due to the bright swirly fabric. That fabric was stiff almost like a batik and boy did it…Continue
Seems like the only time that I wite a blog is on Saturday! The weeks seem to fly by me and before I know it, it's Saturday again!
This is a special Saturday for me. It is the annual Planning Weekend for a group of high school friends and I. Every year for the past 12 years we have taken a long weekend trip together. This is the weekend that we decide where our trip will take us this year. There are 4 of us now. When we started doing this all of those years ago there were 5 of…Continue
Heading out to a local quilt show this morning and I'm pretty excited about it! While it's not a huge show, the quilts on display always make the trip worthwhile! It's put on by a local guild and they always have a show stopper for a raffle quilt. It blows my mind someone would put that much time, effort and money into something to raffle off. I never win anything but it's always fun to try!
Not only do I get to spend the day doing something I love, I get to spend it WITH someone…Continue
I sewed all the long strip sets together and cut all those into block strips. Now, it's time to do a LOT of chain sewing!…Continue
OK, I can make enough errors in quilting on my own without help.
I bought Fons & Porter's Quilting Celebration fall 2013 issue because I fell in love with the Whimsical Welcome banner pattern on the front cover. Checked that all the pattern pieces were full size. Traced all the pattern pieces onto fusible; ironed them onto carefully chosen fabrics and cut them out. Triple checked the size for the background fabric and cut into my last piece of perfect "sky fabric" and a…Continue

Old Man Winter needs to DIE! He has been around long enough and I'm so thoroughly sick of him that I'm resorting to this plan of action. Who's with me? As for the groundhog...well, let's just say that if the coyotes don't get him, I'm going to borrow DH's shotgun.
It is good to be home, except I miss the pool and the daily swims. The trip home was scary at times. There were 6 tractor-trailers for every car. They were flying down the road. Saw two that crashed and had the highway tied up for miles. It was on the other side. We had to get off on our side because of a huge accident to reroute ourselves because 81N was closed for six exits. We were right by an exit and took it. Stressful for all...

The shop hop to Keepsake Quilting has been canceled. Not enough signed up to fill the bus. Was disappointed as it's a fun day out but it's a long trip from here to N.H. and the cost of the bus was more, due to the distance. I'll have to treat myself with the money I was going to spend. hee hee
I just noticed the house is cold. Turned the thermostat up but the furnace didn't come on. Went down cellar and checked my tank and it was on empty. I have had automatic delivery for many…Continue
Thank you for those who welcomed me to this site. I got my fabric and am ready to begin cutting today. Just a week behind however have time to catch up in the next few days. Weather is rainy so wont get tempted to go outside.
I saw in a gift store a microwave hot pad made for bowls. It curved up so a bowl would sit in the middle and you could hold the bowl when it is hot. I heat oatmeal and soup alot in the microwave and thought this made since. Do any of you know where I can get the…Continue
Cannot believe it has been so long since I have been on this site! Wow! I have finished a tilting blocks quilt which I gave to my youngest daughter for her birthday. She recently got married at Myrtle beach and we all had a great time. The bride was beautiful and the groom handsome. And the quests were jovial and happy. When the happy couple had their first dance as a married couple Mitch (groom) dipped Kaleigh (bride) and dropped her! We have a picture of it and you should see the look on…Continue
