My cousin Joy
is here for a weekend visit. She lives in Seaside, Oregon, about 1 1/2 hrs from here. Tonight after dinner, and after my famous grapefruit cosmo's, we decided to learn how to make those cute bottle cap pincushions. Here's the… Continue

I just got a good exercise today - I let my dgd play with the buttons collections while we were in the sewing room; she decided she wants to bring the collection downstairs, so she let go of the box at the top of the stairs. Guess what she and I did - pick up over a hundred buttons - calories burned 100, unspoken expletives (10 lashes of wet noodles); "Lola(that's Grandma), let's do it again" - priceless.
Bribed her with a piece of chocolate if she'd take a nap so I could rest...worth… Continue

My life is slowly getting back to normal. At least my house looks like it. I have even been to my sewing space and worked on my long arm. I am looking forward to taking classes at the IMQA show in May. That was my birthday present from my husband. I still get tired, but that is getting better everyday. My stomach is still sore and will be for some time. But I can do just about anything I want to. I drove for the first time since January yesterday. It felt kind of strange being behind the… Continue

My sister-in-law is new to quilting and having a great time. We have a shop hop happening in our area and she and I are going to them. We went to 2 quilt shops last night and we thought our GPS was not working and stopped at a gas station to get directions. The GPS was correct, but what a long ride. It was a last minute decision, so planning which shops to go to wasn't happening. So this morning I planned out the trip to make the most of our driving. Today we will try to do the remaining… Continue

Hmmm, which machine will I use this weekend? HQ16 or new Pfaff? Maybe both? My cousin Joy (a member here) has also been thinking about a new machine and she's spending the weekend with me. I think we might be machine shopping! :)
Have a quilty weekend everyone!

Ok I've been sewing fan pieces together for the last couple of hours and it is time for a break. I'm working on a replacement quilt for my bed. I hope this quilt last longer than the one on the bed. Wait a minute. the one on the bed has been there for 20 some years. Ok it's only the last couple of years and the three yorkies that have kind of torn it up with their scratching for a softer spot to lay on. I've cut pieces to repair the damaged quilt but I can't work on it while I'm still using… Continue

Saw my surgeon today five weeks after surgery for hip replacement. They took x-rays, which looked good according to him. His verdict - Go Have Fun and see me in 4 1/2 months, work in the garden cause the plants won't grow without you. I am going to do four more sessions of PT because I think it will help build some more strength in the muscles which have been so misused the last year. I can tell a huge difference in the last two weeks so know a little more is going to be beneficial; of course,… Continue

I decided to go ahead and reinstate the EQ group that disappeared from this site a couple of days ago. I thought it would be very appropriate since EQ officially announced on their web page today that they will be releasing EQ7 in June (see http://www.electricquilt.com)
Here is the link to the new group here at Quilt With Us:…

I just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes. They really made my day!! :)
I've been steadily piecing away, a happy little beaver working on a new project that I think will actually get done! Yep, you heard right. Done, as in finished, complete. By the end of this year, no less!! Well, the top anyway. I'm working on a Last Saturday Sampler that requires the monthly blocks be completed by the end of the next month, or I have to pay. I'd rather do this one for free,… Continue

Today, Mom and I went on our yearly trip to the Sauder's Village Quilt Show in Archbold, Oh. We had a blast, like always. This year, I entered a quilt for the show. Didn't win any ribbons, but I wasn't seriosly expecting too, since it my first time entering a quilt. The quilt I entered is at the bottom.
They have a challange catagory. They provide fabric and a theme and you have to have it a certain size, but other than that, you're free to do what you want. This year's… Continue

A month or so ago I got inspired, through a blog entry I saw on here, to make a quilt for charity. It's called "Quilts for Kids"
you can request a kit (its free), they UPS it to you, you have it in a
couple days. You sew it together, buy a batting, quilt it (by machine)
and send it back. Then some darling sick little one in the hospital
gets to use it to brighten their day.
is my finished… Continue

I can't believe my baby is going to be 1 year old tomorrow! I remember the birth like it was YESTERDAY! I guess you need more than one year for that to fade or maybe I just have a memory like an elephant when it comes to that! :) I just wanted to post a few more of his Knit Picks pictures - he was modelling the… Continue

After work today I am heading up to my in-law's farm in SW Wisconsin for the weekend (near Wauzeka). I plan on working on a UFO from a class I took from Nora McMeeking called Roman Rings. Her quilts are based on marble tiles in many of the Italian cathedrals. Here's her website.... www.bellabellaquilts.com
