I have all the borders on the first of three "Memorial to a Bridesmaid Dress" wall hangings for me and my two sister in laws.
I only tried about 6 different fabrics for that last border! The cornerstone fabric and the large star point fabric is from the dress. The center square and the small star points are a silk fabric I found that's very close in color to the dress one of my sister in laws wore.… Continue

I know my last blog was full of depressing news. But I think things are looking up.
Cindy's remains were positively i.d.'ed, and her family held a wake and funeral (Police haven't released the body yet, but at least her family has closure). I feel better knowing she's able to tell the Medical Examiner her story now. Still angry as all h*** that this happened, but I'm confident justice will be served. Cindy's kids are with her siblings now, and hopefully they'll have happy… Continue

while looking at some web sites for patterns.... it is amazing at what we can find - free - found one that has medical and hospital related patterns - and I don't mean for you to buy anything - the ones I found are free on internet... - and I though they could help some of you that have a relative either at home or in the hospital - and if you just google I am sure you could find more - hope it helps…

Has anyone use CT for making clothes? How does it hold up over time?

This is an art quilt for our nephew's wedding gift. He, his fiance, his folks and my DH did the rim to rim hike in the Grand Canyon in 2008. I thought it very fitting for their gift.

This has been the best Memorial week we can remember in decades. We have all our flowers in and chores done at the lake! Now, if you hear a blood curdling scream at 2pm EST, it's the first swim of the season. Somebody said the water was 71, my guess... that is the top inch! We have 5-10 women who meet at 2pm everyday to exercise and solve world problems. lol We will work on the oil spill today. Can't do any worse( no one has contacted my father about his idea:( ...Thanks to all of our veterans,… Continue

I too want to wish everyone a safe & relaxing Memorial Day. My dh & I are just puttering around and not really getting much accomplished. I have been pulling fabric to start the new BOM on Carol Doak's Yahoo group. It can be quite a challenge to make sure you have enough of at least some of the fabrics when you don't know what all the blocks are going to look like & this project will last for a yr! It is during these times that I wish I had purchased 3+ yds of some of the bright… Continue

My poor children--there they are, stuck in the technological dark ages with their pitiful little flip phones. Sigh. I feel so sorry for them. My cell phone started dying last week, with the screen gradually turning white. At first I intended to try to nurse it along until our contract was up in the fall and it was time to renew and for everybody to get new phones--until i realized that I was doing exactly what I went ballistic over with DD. I'll be on the road this week, taking back roads with… Continue

It's been a bit since I've posted anything. Work has been really hectic since the end of April. Then on top of that, I found out the first week of May that DD was getting out of school early (they didn't use their snow days), but summer camp wouldn't start until June 1st. Leaving us without any type of day care for DD for a entire week. After looking at mine and DH's work schedules and travel plans for the next couple of months, we decided the last week of May would probably… Continue

Not every one knows that the folding of the American Flag represents something. Each carefully snapped fold,13 of them, has special meaning.
I honor those who have/do serve this country so we may fly this beautiful flag.
May it always preserve for us the rights, privileges and freedoms we enjoy today & always know that this "freedom" did not come without a price!
The 1st fold of our flag is a symbol of… Continue

Well it is after midnight and I am watching a movie. Hubby is already in bed. Which is a good place for him.LOL......It was a quiet day. After church we went to the cemetary. Then home and did some sewing. Trying to teach dh how to piece together a quilt top. He is doing really well, but it is a slow process. We are donating a quilt to the Eastern Star for them to auction off. I thought it would be cool for him to piece it and me to quilt it. Hopefully it will bring a good amount of money.… Continue

This afternoon we planted the window boxes and the half barrel. The humming birds will be happy to have their favorite petunas to visit. Those little black flies were nasty, when the wind didn't blow, they swarmed around my head. I must be too sweet, they ignored my Dh lol
I unpacked my sewing project, I got a good start on GS new quilt. DH goes back to work Tuesday, I should be able to sew then.
I miss my ND family, I guess I better go see my GD this week. My son is still home… Continue

I wanted to let you know what an inspiration many of you are to me! I was reading last weekend about a lot of the projects in the works and short time frames and it inspired me to make a quick gift for my son, Connor's Jazz Choir teacher. She has been a kind and patient person for Connor during his high school years and I didn't think a card… Continue

I think it's been at least a month since I last had a post. It's been a crazy time, lots going on. This weekend (and past week) alone there is/was a lot happening, but all good, so no worries there.
Thank you to those of you who keep Russ and I in your prayers. We still have not sold our home and the pressure is mounting to get it sold, but everybody has been truly wonderful to us and so helpful in anyway they can, and it means the world to both of us (and our kids, who… Continue

Remember the girls group I started at our Church? We are still on a roll. We have made big progress and pray daily for more! We have been bringing out the sewing machines for the past three Friday Nights. It has been very exciting for all of us, adults and young ladies. We began with straight stitching on old bed sheets cut up int strips. I have been trying to pick up end of bolt and bargain fabrics. Last night we made pin cushions to go with our machines. Of course the girls took theirs home.… Continue

Yesterday our daughter saw a rheumatologist and got the diagnosis I was sure she would get - she has fibromyalgia. Having it myself her symptoms sounded too much like it. She is very proactive, so I know she will do what she can to feel as good as she can with this condition/disease. But... it is still tough when you find out. Hopefully she can get the pain level down so she can manage her full time job.
Also yesterday our niece went to the ER and expected a diagnosis of… Continue
