Well, Folks, another finish for me this year. Both hand quilted. Both hand appliqued. I'm feeling soooo good. My queue is shortening, and I've got my third quilt on the quilt frame and have started hand quilting. I love hand quilting. It's so contemplative and it gives me the greatest pleasure to see a beautifully quilted quilt finally finished. This one will likely take me to winter, as it's a Queen sized bed quilt, but I'll enjoy the journey. There will be breaks, with any luck,…Continue

It's been over a month since the "love of my life" died....unexpectedly. Most days - it's easier to think that he is still 'just on vacation'...so much easier to face than reality.
His siblings all agreed that whatever each of us bought or gave to Wayne we would get back. I provided his sister with a list of items and told her that all I really wanted back were the FIVE quilts that I made him over the last 37 years.
Wayne's nephew - Joseph had been living with…Continue
I feel like I am flying around! We flew to Colorado for our niece's high school graduation two weeks ago, then the next weekend we had a birthday party for me in our backyard so it was cleaning, weeding, planting, and painting. Then three days later we flew to Chicago for our granddaughter's first birthday, then we flew home and I worked at the quilt shop for 2 days and…Continue
Made for my hairdresser to give as a gift to a friend. I usually don't commit to make gifts for others to give.
But it's done.
Queen Lizzie 18 is at the shop. It pooped out just as I was completing this quilt. :-(
in a little mountain town about 2-1/2 hours from here over this next Friday, Saturday and Sunday with my favorite quilter roommate. Unfortunately my participant packet got lost in the mail! It finally arrived this morning, a little battered and scuffed, but the contents were just fine. I have been to this one before and the leader usually sends a pattern and background fabric for a Friendship Block, all of which will be drawn for at the end of the retreat. Now I'm scrambling to find…Continue
Sweet flannel elephant receiving blanket for a little sweetie pie who’ll be making her appearance in 6 weeks or so…32 inches by oh 36 or so…nice and big for wrapping up and taking for a drag eventually. Sewn May 25th 2013 While I was at it I top stitched a like sized lovie to wash up and send to God’s Tiny Angels for a sweet newborn to snuggle…Continue
I found material at a LQS and just had to have it. I liked it sooo much I went back and bought more of the material. It took me a while to come up with the blue and purple material that matches pretty close with the colors in black and gold material. As for the pattern... I have no idea why I decided to do a quilt with curved pieces. I made one Double wedding ring years ago and decided that I didn't want to do another like it, the curved part any way. Well sense I will be off…Continue
Just finished this quilt from a Connecting Threads quilt kit called soaked. Made it for my 4 year old grandson. Today was his b'day party, He said, Granny how did you do that???? Thanks CT's for this awesome quilt kit, he loved it.…Continue
I know that I am late on this issue, but is anyone sending quilts to the displaced families in Oklahoma? If so, I want to help. Does anyone have an address that I can send them to and a contact person?
I could even be playing around with my new machines or the new Iron I got Or the new material I ordered, which by the way I would have ordered more but CT ran out of it. HINT HINT order more!
But DD went back to work on Thursday and needed a baby sitter. Her dad was suppose to watch Aiden Thursday…Continue
Had to check the calendar to make sure it was May25th. We went to our son's team playoff game in lacrosse. They won, but we almost froze...the wind was vicious. Everyone was in winter coats and had quilts! This crazy...we're suppose to be in the 80's on Wed. Have a wonderful Memorial Day...stop and say Thanks For all that we are blessed with.…Continue
I wasn't actually away. I was just missing from the board. Too many deadlines, not enough time or energy. Now I'm coming up for air. I feel like some giant beast, maybe a whale, surfacing before diving again. We'll be babysitting 2 year old for a week. I'm already expecting to be in bed five minutes after he is. I doubt there will be much in the way of news bulletins or creativeness. Just in case, I'll have yarn and pattern to knit penguins this time instead of zebras.
Latest pieced quilt top. Now the decision time is upon me. What to quilt. I am thinking a something in the middle, a border, and just stitch around the stripes. Any suggestions?
